PrometheusTS
hello , I am having a small generation problem with normal maps, somehow altough looks good in other programs inside skyrim looks like they are upside down , like snow depositating on the bottom of extrusion of a normal map , also it is not very deep or extruding out like is in the original high poly but looks quite flat , any ideas? throttlekitty
Can you post a picture of the in-game issue, and your normal map texture? (I answered in your polycount thread, but you have different questions there.)
PrometheusTS
I found the solution ,I have to rotate counterclockwise the normal map channels to switch the orientation of the normal direction so to have it fitting ....
throttlekitty
This sounds very wrong, but if it works for you...
PrometheusTS
Why wrong ? So far my xnormal generation was done in x+ y+ z+ and instead I should generate like y- I only noticed now couse of the snow shader added on an object but now that I know I should fix. A lot of other normal maps I did ... It also improves the look of the normals making them look more correct.... On a side note I also noticed that working in zbrush I really have to carve a lot details to make them stand out in skyrim otherwise they would just look washed out and not really visible.....
