jimb111
Hello all, i need some help! I have four diffeent character profiles running, some with different weather mods, audio files specifically. Some weather mods (COT/VW) require certain patches for example, Audio Overhaul. What do i do if i want one profile to be COT/AO and another to be VW/AO? Can i have separate Audio Overhaul mods installed so i can switch things around? Right now i am stuck with one profile being COT/AO and the other being VW and something different for audio because i would then need to uninstall AO then reinstall to work with VW. Is there a way i can make this work, if so, how? Make sense? lol hope you can help, and thanx
AugustaCalidia
Are you using Vortex as your mod manager? If so, there's absolutely no reason to uninstall and reinstall mods in order to satisfy different profile requirements. On the Mods tab simply select "Enable" for the mods you want active in a given profile and "Disable" for the mods you don't want active. If in Profile A you want mod XYZ active, you enable it. If in Profile B you do not want mod XYZ active, you disable it. Edited January 26, 2020 by AugustaCalidia
jimb111
Yes, thank you, i understand that part. But what i need to know is if i can have separate mods running (AO) that i can use to be compatible with different weather mods, because of patches required. Meaning i want to have one Audio Overhaul for COT, and another for VW. Because i can't seem to do that on Vortex, it asks me if i want to replace it. Yes, i use Vortex. jimb111
When i try to download COT for a different profile, it asks me if i want to replace it, because i already have it installed on another character, which i don't want to do, i want a separate file for it, because on one profile i use a combo of COT/AO and for another, i want VW/AO, but i can't seem to run them separately without having to reinstall AO, because of compatibilty/patching issues. Frankly, I don't understand what your problem is. If you have Climates of Tamriel downloaded in one profile, why do you have to download it separately for another? Once downloaded into one profile, it will be present in all of your other profiles. What makes profiles different, is which mods you choose to activate as well as the profile save and settings choices that you make. In one profile enable COT/AO and their required patches and disable what does not fit that mod combination. Mutatis mutandis, do likewise with a VW/AO profile, Edited January 26, 2020 by AugustaCalidia
rmm200
To add to what Augusta said, if CoT has a FOMOD installer that picks different patches, you may need to do some manual tweaking.Start with your profile that uses the most patches. Select all CoT patches in that profile. Disable the plugins that do not apply to that profile. Now switch to a different profile. Enable the mod CoT - which includes its patches. Switch to the plugin page and enable / disable patches as appropriate for this profile.Etc for the rest of your profiles.Whatever you do - don't download CoT again. That is never necessary. jimb111
Ok, i think i understand what you are saying, because when i have Audio Overhaul patched with COT, i cannot use AO with VW. So are you saying that when i switch to a different profile disable the COT/AO patches manually and enable the VW/AO ones? This won't mess with my saves? rmm200
Assuming you are using profile specific saves - which you had better be - that is the right thing to do.You are likely to end up with a missing Master if you enable a patch for a profile that does not need it.Note that CoT stays the same across all your profiles. You just install it once.

No, this will not mess up your saves, assuming that you have selected profile specific saves, as rnn200 mentioned.
jimb111
K, just want to finish up by saying that i used the "variant" option and am now able to use Audio Overhaul with not only COT, but with Vivid Weathers as well, over different profiles, which is cool and kind of a relief. Bit of a learning curve, thank you for your help, and the more i learn about Vortex, the more i like it. Cheers, thanx again :)
