Blackburth
Hi, I'm having a problem with light sources. They just completely blind me. For example, I am in Ulfric Stormcloak's quarters and the lights there light the entire hallway to the point of me not being able to see the end of the hallway because It's too damn yellow.I have tried several things, downloaded a mod that would make the game darker, but it had no effect on the light sources. I tried to use ENB to turn off Bloom and HDR, but it makes me lag to death even on low quality, while I usually can play seamlessly on high quality. The problem came when I got the Dawnguard DLC. I tried reinstalling Skyrim, but I had to reinstall Dawnguard as well because otherwise I wouldn't be able to load my saves, and I don't want to lose the time I spent getting to the point where I am now.In most dungeons, it's bearable, but when I come to a certain well lit dungeon, for example the vault in Riften, I can barely see my enemies attacking me with arrows. You can probably understand why it bothers me. If anyone has encountered this problem before, and has a solution, please tell me. Anxiously awaiting a reply, thanks in advance. Cheers, eli EDIT:I was unable to confirm whether the ENB thing worked due to extreme lag. Even if it did, it wouldn't be much of a solution if it would make the playability even worse. EDIT 2: I am not a vampire. Here's a screenshot of Ulfric's quarters (keep in mind that this is not the worst I've encountered):http://tinypic.com/r/34pn9ld/6 Here's a screenshot of my active effects:http://tinypic.com/r/u4swp/6 EDIT 3:I decided to copy my skyrimprefs.ini file here, for reference(if this amount of text is not allowed, let me know and I will remove it: [Display]fShadowBiasScale=0.2500fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000fShadowDistance=4000.0000iBlurDeferredShadowMask=3bFloatPointRenderTarget=1iShadowMaskQuarter=4iShadowMapResolution=2048bFXAAEnabled=0iMaxAnisotropy=8fGamma=1.0000iShadowFilter=3fDecalLOD2=1500.0000fDecalLOD1=1000.0000fSpecularLODStartFade=1000.0000fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000fLightLODStartFade=2500.0000iTexMipMapMinimum=0iTexMipMapSkip=0bTransparencyMultisampling=0iWaterMultiSamples=0iMultiSample=8iShadowMode=3bTreesReceiveShadows=1bDrawLandShadows=1bDrawShadows=1bFull Screen=1iSize H=1080iSize W=1920fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=4600.0000fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=3600.0000fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=5000.0000fMeshLODFadePercentDefault=1.2000fMeshLODFadeBoundDefault=256.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=2048.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=2844.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=10000000.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=10000000.0000iScreenShotIndex=5bShadowMaskZPrepass=0bMainZPrepass=0iMaxSkinDecalsPerFrame=10iMaxDecalsPerFrame=30sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M "iAdapter=0iPresentInterval=1bShadowsOnGrass=1bDeferredShadows=1[imagespace]bDoDepthOfField=1iRadialBlurLevel=0[Grass]b30GrassVS=0fGrassStartFadeDistance=5000.0000fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=7000.0000fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=0.0000[Water]iWaterReflectHeight=512iWaterReflectWidth=512bUseWaterDisplacements=1bUseWaterRefractions=1bUseWaterReflections=1bUseWaterDepth=1[MAIN]fSkyCellRefFadeDistance=150000.0000bGamepadEnable=1bCrosshairEnabled=1fHUDOpacity=1.0000bSaveOnPause=1bSaveOnTravel=1bSaveOnWait=1bSaveOnRest=1[GamePlay]bShowFloatingQuestMarkers=1bShowQuestMarkers=1iDifficulty=2[interface]bDialogueSubtitles=0bGeneralSubtitles=0bShowCompass=1fMouseCursorSpeed=1.0000[Controls]fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.0125fGamepadHeadingSensitivity=1.0000bAlwaysRunByDefault=1bInvertYValues=0bGamePadRumble=1bUseKinect=0[Particles]iMaxDesired=750[saveGame]fAutosaveEveryXMins=15.0000[AudioMenu]fAudioMasterVolume=1.0000fVal7=1.0000uID7=0fVal6=1.0000uID6=0fVal5=1.0000uID5=0fVal4=1.0000uID4=0fVal3=1.0000uID3=94881fVal2=0.4000uID2=466532fVal1=1.0000uID1=554685fVal0=0.8000uID0=1007612[Clouds]fCloudLevel2Distance=262144.0000fCloudLevel1Distance=32768.0000fCloudLevel0Distance=16384.0000fCloudNearFadeDistance=9000.0000[General]iStoryManagerLoggingEvent=-1bEnableStoryManagerLogging=0[TerrainManager]fTreeLoadDistance=40000.0000fBlockMaximumDistance=150000.0000fBlockLevel1Distance=40000.0000fBlockLevel0Distance=25000.0000fSplitDistanceMult=1.1000bShowLODInEditor=0[Trees]bRenderSkinnedTrees=1uiMaxSkinnedTreesToRender=20[Decals]uMaxDecals=250bDecals=1bSkinnedDecals=1uMaxSkinDecals=50uMaxSkinDecalsPerActor=40[LOD]fLODFadeOutMultSkyCell=1.0000fLODFadeOutMultObjects=7.5000fLODFadeOutMultItems=4.5000fLODFadeOutMultActors=6.0000[blurShaderHDR]bDoHighDynamicRange=0[blurShader]bUseBlurShader=0[Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1bShowAllResolutions=1uLastAspectRatio=3bShadowsOnGrass=1 Edited November 18, 2012 by Blackburth
Georgiegril
YOu can turn off bllom and HDR without using an ENB simply by going into your skyrim prefs and changing the lines that affect these values to zero. Just make sure you are changing the prefs file in your documents/mygames/skyrim folder, not the one in Program files. Example below:[imagespace][RadialBlurLevel=0 [blurShaderHDR]bDoHighDynamicRange=0[blurShader]bUseBlurShader=0 You can also go into your graphics driver interface, make sure that your profile for Skyrim has AO, HDR and FXAA disabled. Not sure what graphics card you are using, but updating your drivers might also help. Oh, just had another thought....are you a vampire? Is it possible your problem is the vampire sensitivity to sunlight thing?

I did receive a serious beating from 3 or 4 vampires once, but I didn't get a message of being infected.Where can I check if I'm a vampire? And even if I'm a vampire, I would find it odd that Bethesda would make the game near unplayable in well-lit dungeons. Or maybe I have to eat a human or something, I remember reading about it in the help section or something. cheers, eli
Georgiegril
Or maybe I have to eat a human or something Lol. I don't have DG yet, but I recall reading a post which described the Vampire night-vision/day blindness thing similar to how you describe your situation. You should be able to see if you are a vampire by opening your magic menu. I have had SkyUI so long, that I don't know how it works exactly in vanilla, but in SkyUI, in the magic menu, last on the right, there is a icon for all active effects. (Blessings, enchanted items, etc.) and if you are suffering from any diseases, poisons, etc. that will show up there as well. There is probably something equivalent in the vanilla interface. Blackburth
I checked for the vampirism and tried the Bloom and HDR options georgiegril suggested. Turns out I am not a vampire, and that the options didn't work. I added some screenshots to my original post to illustrate the problem. Thanks for your responses so far. Thanks a lot Georgiegril, you've really helped me isolate the problem.
