SpikeWolfwood
Dear Nexus Community, Can anyone help me with a weapon project? I want the weapon to do something like this : Thank you for looking at this.
apixaez
And what progress have you made exactly with this "weapon project" ? I'm gonna make a wild guess and you're gonna say that you already have the weapon.. and then it turns out to be a stock weapon from the vanilla game.. This is where I will sigh and facepalm slightly and ask you what other progress you have made. Then you will say you don't know where to start or what to do, because you didn't exactly do your homework.. because hey, asking silly questions is easier than just doing your own research and tinkering, right? So let's skip all that headache and go with me just saying: Yes, it is possible, with custom animations and models and scripting. No, it is unlikely anyone will help you with that, especially 'cuz animators are rare and they have their own ideas, not to mention probably a busy schedule. Want something done? Do it yourself. Google & learn. I suggest you start by download GIMP & the .dds add-on and start making a custom texture for your weapon.. Then start looking at Blender and/or 3ds Max.. best of luck. I always modeled it first then mapped it all out on a UV map then i would begin texturing off that. makes it easier to "color in the lines". plus it usually had the added effect of not smearing the map weirdly after done the model. but thats just one way to do it. anyways onto the topic, is it possible to do this mod with an object effect? i dont know all the conditions all that well, but i know theres one for crouching that might be usable to make it apply some effect (which in this case could be a new model to the character maybe?) so it does your ... transformation thingy. i dont know scripting all that well for this game so i dont think i can help with that. Hey, That all sounds a little on the harsh side, I guess you deal with quite a lot of idiots often. If people would take just a little bit of time out of their day to look at the things I descriptively post and go into depth with, such as : My link I would not post blank questions like this a few days later... Thank you for taking some time out of your day to even look at this AND leave feedback. Thanks for caring just a little bit as to lead me in the correct direction. I appreciate that more than you may assume I do. I hope to put a little grin on your face in the future if and only if I complete the goal I am attempting to accomplish. apixaez
Sorry if it came across as harsh, I just know most people don't really bother doing anything for you unless it's something simple (speaking from experience ;p). I also just had to learn from tinkering and googling (not that I'm a pro modder or anything and all I make is mostly for personal use 'cuz of copyright 'n stuff). @MBile yes, but I was assuming he didn't have any experience with anything at all, so it's better imo to start with the "easier" part and learn to texture a bit and/or change textures and then look into NifSkope/Blender/3ds max .. just my opinion of course. An object effect is very doubtful, as he wants the gun itself to transform into an armor part basically. So you'll need an animation.. Or you can do without the animation and it'll just fade away and then fade back into the weapon you want .. If I were you I'd base it on the power fist as that kind of covers most of the underarm.. Changing the upperarm will require either some texturing or some moddelling to fit the power fist. So yeah, there's a couple of ways you can approach this and I guess the best way is just to see what's easiest for you.
