KnightRangersGuild
Just wondering if there is an easy way to change the color of an item without having to learn about textures?
acidzebra
Since it's all done with textures... not really? But it's not really hard; extract textures from BSA, install photoshop/gimp plugin for DDS files, and if you just want to change colors you won't have to mess with the normal maps or anything, just apply a color filter of your choice to the main texture DDS you're looking to change, save, and off you go. ghosu
Only the whole thing/mesh, not different areas - you can change the item's cubemap, emissive and specular color in NifSkope...like i did with my ammo addon: http://666kb.com/i/c900wvcacuf9b5ujc.png ... just for the base metal body i'm using the same texture for all versions, same with the colored sphere - just changed the above mentioned settings in NifSkope with a few clicks, but doing this or using a filter/color adjustement on the texture as mentioned before takes the same time i guess. http://666kb.com/i/c95130z6isoudqy1z.pngIn both cases you have to extract (.dds or .nif) and need an external program (Gimp/Photoshop or NifSkope), the edit itself takes a few seconds. TheGreenLion
Sometimes in the case of gems they aren't colored by a texture but rather vertex color in the mesh which is a pain, unless what ghosu mentioned will override the vertex coloring. KnightRangersGuild
Thank you guys, I will try the nif color change first since I have expaience with niffs, so I have to change both the emissive color and the speular color to the same color??? I think thats where I was going wrong.
ghosu
Nah, don't have to be the same...try around with different settings/strength to see the difference, result depends on the cubemap as well.
