ghostrecon123
hello everybody! i have a problem, i added Horns to a Helmet by using Nifskope and i used "paste branch" to add the horns, it looks fine in Nifskope and in Creation Kit but the Horns does not appear in-game, when i edit other meshes like guns from Fallout New Vegas that trick always works but not on Skyrim, i'm still very new with meshe editing thinghere's the helmethttp://www.mediafire.com/?7val4x4sedcy4bb thanks in advance  Edited November 21, 2012 by ghostrecon123
ghosu
Hello Won't work like that...animated weapon (like bow and crossbow) and armor/clothing is weighted/skinned (you see a BSDismemberSkinInstance block in its NiTriShape) so these meshes stay in position when you move your character or move it. In fact each polygon is attached to a bone of the player/character. You just copy/pasted new parts, this would work for static stuff like world objects or weapons, but not for armor - each horn needs to be weighted using Blender or 3DsMax with NifPlugin. You should check out the Tutorial Stickies, maybe there is a way to just copy/paste the weights from another mesh, i'm always weight it in 3DsMax. And i guess you don't need the NiAlphaProperty for your horn's NiTriShape...as far as i see your horn mesh uses no transparent texture ?! greetings Edited November 21, 2012 by ghosu
ghostrecon123
the horns are just dwarvenscraplarge2.nif from Skyrim itself that i stuck on the sides of the helmet, i don't have tools like Blender or 3DsMax so i don't know what to do now, this 3d modeling thing is still very overwhelming for me Edited November 21, 2012 by ghostrecon123
ghosu
Blender is for free, same with the needed nif plugin...and there are 2 tutorial stickies in the MOD TALK section, what you need is an armor tutorial for Blender that shows you how to weighten/skin the new armor parts, there should be a few. If it's overhelming you...well, then you maybe should forget it - it's not the easiest thing to do. Or wait is someone else replies, mabye there is a way to copy/paste the weight of another armor part to use it with your horns...
