Help with Worldmap

I want to create my own custom world space. I am fairly familiar with GECK but I haven't used it in a while so I am rusty. I have the initial creation of the space, but I am unsure how to add more cells to the map. After I add the cells would I make the terrain features then add the details? Thanks in advance.

Worldmap creation is handled a fair-bit in advance of actually working on the landscape. Read through the 'heightmap' and 'worldspaces' pages on the GECK wiki.

If your end goal is have terrain which is visible from a distance, the GECK is completely unforgiving when it comes to the following:

Your heightmap, or terrain needs to cover an area that is completely square and contains some multiple of 2 square cells, e.g. 4x4 cells, 16x16 cells, or 32x32 cells (a quad), etc. To make sure you have a workable heightmap, either import one into the editor, or edit your esp using FOMM afterwards.

The GECK 'adds' a cell to your worldspace automatically when you place a reference inside of it, and you are *not* working on an imported heightmap. If you're working on a small worldspace and don't need to view your terrain from a distance, there's very little to worry about. You can basically just start sculpting the landscape and adding details as you go along.
