casss
Hi All Total noob here but i'm diving into the world of modding head first and loving every second of it, however I need some noob advice! I have opened edited and exported a body mesh, but having done so and put it back exactly where it was in my skyrim files - it's not working with the original textures. I thought it would just split or crack as the new mesh is larger, but it isn't appearing at all. So again I haven't touched the texture files I was using for the edited mesh, but they aren't appearing on my the mesh, my actors body simply disappears. Can someone tell me if this is A/ a problem with the textures or is it a problem with the way I exported the mesh? (Exported using default FO3 settings etc.) And B/ if it is the textures, how do I edit them to cater for a larger body mesh? Thanks :turned:
ghosu
You just moved polygons, so the polygon count is still the same as the original or you deleted/added some? When the count is still the same and you just changed the shape the UV map should still be the same, means that the texture should just stretch over the surface. As you've maybe seen in NifSkope, the NiTriShape of the mesh comes with a BSDismemberSkinInstance block and several bone NiNodes, means the mesh is weighted to the character's skeleton. You reattached the Skin block after reimporting the edited mesh? And i'm not sure if you can still reuse the original weighting if you applied heavy changes to the mesh or you have to redo it...which programs you used? And i would recommend to upload the nif so someone might check it, much easier. How to alter the texture? Well, as mentioned...if you just changed the shape it should stretch, if you added new polygons you have to add them to the UV map if you find an empty spot on it and paint this area using an image editor or painting it in a 3D editor or sculpting/texturing software like Mudbox, Zbrush or Sculptris. Same if the stretching looks ugly, you have to add new polygons to the stretched area or change the size/position of the stretched polygons on the UV map/texture, paint it or whatever.
