BurnableAddress
Anyone know of a way to adjust scope zoom distance either on modded or default scopes? I don't mean the effective distance or the range of the weapon but the actual visual zoom distance with a scope in the game. I know that many modded scopes on weapon mods come with adjustable zoom configurations, but there are some that do not, like the XM2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle. I love this mod, but the USMC scope for the mod is a mid-range scope and most other snipers have a much further zoom. As far as I know there isn't any way to adjust this via FO4Edit, but i'm certainly no expert. Any info or assist you can provide would be great! Please and thank you! BurnableAddress
True. I unfortunately have no idea how to use that and have even tried before, but couldn't figure out how to stumble my way through to the effect I was hoping for. Without some specific instructions on how to do this, much like a registry edit I'd have no idea where to start looking.
StormWolf01
Heyas Burnable. It's actually really simple to modify the zoom on a scope. However, I MUCH prefer Xedit for something like this, rather than the CK. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737 Now, this depends on whether it's a vanilla scope, or a mod weapon scope. If it's a vanilla scope, you just need to have Xedit (and if I typo it as "exit" I mean Xedit. Pretty common typo for me.) just open the Fallout4.esm or along with any DLC files, if you're wanting to mod those too.If you are wanting to adjust a mod weapon scope, you will need to also open the .esp file for that weapon as well. Once you have those esm/esp files open.... Scroll down on the left side panel til you get to an area that says Object Modification. There will be a + sign next to it, click on the + to expand that branch of the tree. I've marked this with a green arrow, in the picture. Now scroll through the list, until you find the scope that you want to mod. (This is for a vanilla scope. If you have a mod weapon scope, you will want to scroll even further down, til you find the weapon in the tree list, then click the + next to it's name, then scroll down to the area for Object Modification, and expand it there. Once you have your scope selected, the file for it will appear in the right side panel. If this is a vanilla weapon, you will need to right click on it's name in the left panel and choose to extract it as An OVERRIDE. At which point Xedit will ask you to create a new .esp for the file, and name the new file. From there, you will have to go down on the left side to find your new esp file and make the edits there, not in the vanilla file. You can't actually make any edits to the vanilla file.If it's a mod weapon, you will not need to do that. You can just make the changes there inside the mod. Ok, after you have selected the scope. In the right side panel, scroll down until you find the area that I highlighted in the pic. That number that I super highlighted, is the amount of zoom that the scope has. In this example it's a 4x zoom scope, so it's set for 4.0Setting that value higher will increase the zoom, setting it lower, will decrease the zoom. Now tho, when testing it in game, just remember that high power scopes have a default where they first zoom in at a lower setting. You have to hit your keyboard key or controller button to make them further zoom in.I will also note that I don't recommend setting a scope for more than 30.0 Depending on your computer, it can cause your game to stutter or lag when zoomed in that far. Again, depending on your computer. You may also not be happy with how much of the peripheral view that you lose at that close up. 20x is what most of the vanilla scopes zoom into for max range. To edit that value, you simply click it with the left mouse button, then click it again, and you should be able to type in a new value. Whatever numbers you type in, will be how much it zooms. Repeat this with any other scopes that you want to mod. When you're finished, hold down the CTRL key and tap the S keys on your keyboard to save the files. Then try out the new scopes in game. if they are on weapon that you already have... you may have to go to a weapon bench, and remove the scope from the weapon, exit the bench and equip the gun. Then go back to the bench and then re-equip the scope to the gun. The game gets a bit wonky about that sometimes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)-Storm

StormWolf01
No problem Burnable ;) Yeah, when you see it in print, it looks like a lot.But the gyst of it is really simple. Load up files, find Mod_thisname_thatname in the Object Modifications, then open it, and change a number.A lot of the typing was because I know you haven't used Xedit before so I was trying to be as detailed as I could, with the instructions. ;) Oh yeah... forgot to warn you. First time that you start up Xedit, you're gonna have a tip screen pop up. Make sure you set that box to not show again the next time. There is a TON of those boxes. You'll probly sit there clicking them off for about 2 or 3 minutes before they run out. Trust, you don't wanna have to go through that next time you use it. Sounds good man! :)
