Deleted5727931User
So after installing ApachiiSkyHair today, I noticed odd things were happening with my quests. For example, location markers on maps are there, but when I reach the quest destination they either disappear from the map or there is nothing to do for the quest (nobody/nothing is marked, people who should be the next step in the quest have normal dialogue with no relation to the quest-line, etc). I have one quest where I must meet someone at a certain destination. He is situated outside - I'm certain of this as I've done this quest during my last play through - I can also see his quest marker at the destination when I look at my map. I fast travel there, but when I arrive, he's not there and his marker on the map is just gone. I opened up my quest log/journal when I noticed this, clicked "show on map", and it showed me the location of a completely different quest. What the-? I am quite certain that this mod is the cause; I have tried installing/uninstalling it both manually and with NMM, and after I have uninstalled and return to the game, the problem is gone. I've also tried disabling all of my other mods and just using ApachiiSkyHair, and I get the same results. I have no idea why that would have anything to do with a hair mod, but somehow for me it does. It doesn't even replace any of the vanilla hair, the hairstyles are new meshes all together... I would really appreciate it if anyone who knows how to fix this could PM me. It is a great mod and I really want to keep using it, but I do not want it to interfere with my game like that. IsharaMeradin
That is really odd. I'd almost suspect that with the addition of the hairs being loaded that your computer/game is reaching its limits and some processing threads are failing. Does the same thing happen if you install any other mod that is just as large in size? Another thing to look at is your game version. It should be fully updated to 1.81. If it isn't that could be part of the issue. Out of curiosity does it do the same thing after defraging your hard drive & rebooting your computer? Deleted5727931User
This hasn't happened to me before when installing similar sized mods. Actually, when I have tried installing certain mods (such as 'Horses for Followers' by Jorne) they simply don't show up in-game, but they don't seem to have any effect on quests or anything else. I had a hunch that both those issues were because of my game version as you mentioned; I'm currently using 1.1.21.0. However I still don't understand how this could link to quest glitching, and I have never had such mod problems prior to using Apachii's.. even when using newer mods. The same thing happens even after I have run a deep scan & defrag of my computer and rebooted, though I have just built a new computer and thus purchased a new hard-drive. I also defragged the game itself with Iobit Gamebooster 3, removed old zip/rar archives from my Data folder... everything I could think of that might help. I suppose it's about time I updated Skyrim anyway, so I'll give that a try, and hopefully it resolves the issue. Will post here with the results. Edit: Completely forgot to update this.I tried updating the game to the latest version, but there have been no changes to the quest behavior. I decided to just uninstall the mod altogether and use a different hair mod that works. If anyone figures out why this mod is giving me trouble I'd still like to hear from you. I'd much rather use Apachii's mod than my current one (: Edited January 7, 2013 by Guest
