saprta Posted November 25, 2008 Share Posted November 25, 2008 Walking through the wasteland was a long and lonesome journey. Then in the distance I heard the sounds of gunfire and barking. I ran to the aide of a dog who was being attacked by raiders. It's alright boy, you're safe now. With no one to care for him, I asked the poor animal if he would like to come with my on my journey to find my father. He barks enthusiastically and follows. After weeks of traveling together and filling that empty void of loneliness, dogmeat (who I've come to call Sammy) has now become family. He would protect me when i was in need, and i always told him what a good boy he was. On many occasions, I looked out for him before i did myself to ensure nothing ill would befall my best friend. I never left him at home or told him to stay, because when I would look over and he wasn't there barking and panting in my footsteps that feeling of emptiness would come creeping back. We shared a lot together and it seemed that after a while i wasn't taking care of him at all, he was taking care of ME. Then when the end came and i stood before the doors of the purifier, i keeled in front of him to tell him to stay. I didn't want him to follow me somewhere i knew i could not come back from. However, the dialect that appeared on screen surprised me very much. The first option when taking to him said "It looks like this is where we part ways boy". My heart sunk and in reply came the sound of him whining. It was a hard farewell when i walked into the chamber with "Sammy" barking behind me..... and then whimpering when i hit the floor. I just hope he has someone to look after him. I was surprised by the Optional dialect that appeared right before i entered the purification chamber with dogmeat. So, now i wonder what optional dialects appear with other companions you bring to this point in the game? Can anyone confirm "ending dialect options" with other companions? mikekearn Posted November 25, 2008 Share Posted November 25, 2008 I can confirm there are alternate options. I never knew about that one with Dogmeat, though. That's actually kind of sad. The others are more annoying. Two of the optional companions are a super mutant and a ghoul, neither of which are affected by radiation. The alternate dialogue is to ask them to go and do it for you, and both times they have a lame excuse. Doesn't make any sense to me. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That's the kind of thing that would have me crying like a baby. I'm not even ashamed to say it! Pets being left behind freaks me out big time. spacerogue Posted November 26, 2008 Share Posted November 26, 2008 mind if I say that I LOVE how you wrote this post ^^; and yeah man, thas so sad .... but with the CS on its way you'll soon have sammy back :D !! as for my dog ... well I kind consule rezzed him, told him to follow me , and he just went of on his own. I'm still figuring out how to get him back ... edit; ok found it, if you dog doesn't listen to you anymore console him and do DISABLE , then do the Placeatme code , Dog is back and the bug has dissepaired with the one you disabled !
