pastafarian
This is my second topic on this matter, which I know I'll probably get bollocked for but I'm on my last nerve now.I recently posted about CTD's with no error, to no avail, I got some responses but none of them came close to helping. To completely rule out that it might be my computer, I went and bought another one, which was a massive upgrade, has the ability to play Skyrim on ultra with no problems graphically, redownloaded Skyrim, booted it up, 20 minutes later I CTD with no error, I verify my Steam cache and it tells me theres a missing file, just the onethat it will redownload, which It never does. This is really starting to piss me off to the point where I'm actually considering just saying screw it and not bothering with an TES/Bethesda game again =|. This is a list of the mods I have installed, since I bash patced it it crashes within 10 seconds of gameplay instead of 10 minutes, Wrye Bash also said files were missing from Dawnguard and Hearthfire (highlighted red) http://i47.tinypic.com/24wcx0l.jpg
Georgiegril
I think I must be a masochist, responding to post that denigrates those who selflessly gave you their time in their best efforts to help out in the past. Maybe I was swayed by your threats to never play skyrim again, who knows? 1. I see a Bashed patch, but do you use BOSS? Because one thing I noticed right away is that your unofficial patches are not placed as the mod authors instruct. Also the BOSS log will give you messages, for example, if you are using the wrong version of a mod for your dlc, etc. Have you read that and followed all the instructions? Also, while BOSS can really help, I would take the mod author's instructions over BOSS, or at least try both.2. I get the missing file error too, but I am not having any crashes. It started after I downloaded DG. I tried verifying like 5 times, but it never went away. Since I am not crashing, I think it may be a false error, and maybe a red herring for you.3. If all of that fails, Bben's troubleshooting guide is time consuming and painful but extremely effective, if followed exactly as described. Since you've already gone to the trouble of buying a new rig (must be nice) a few hours of basic mod troubleshooting should be cheap in comparison. pastafarian
I appreciate the time you've taken to respond to me, I know I've probably come across as a total dick but I am really at the end of my tether hah. I placed the unoffical patches in there after to CTD's become apparent in my fresh install on this new rig, to see if they'd fix it but sadly they didn't. I do use BOSS yes, so I'll give what you said a try, thanks man.
pastafarian
Sadly none of this has worked, I crashed within 4 seconds of gameplay. I can't really follow the troubleshooting stuff, I honestly have no idea where to look on there. Thanks any way man.
Georgiegril
Re: Bben's guide. Here is another link to one of his posts. Look for the problem that is closest to the kind of crashes you are having. Another option: On your new computer, did you actually reinstall (clean, fresh, no files transferred from your old rig?) or did you try to transfer. If you did not do a complete clean reinstall and a new game, I would try that, adding only one or two mods (or graphics tweaks, or whatever) at a time, run BOSS and then play for a bit to see if the crash reoccurs. That way, if the crashes start up again, you can more easily identify what was involved. Here is theSTEP guide's manualon reverting a game to vanilla, very helpful; it tells you specific folders/files to delete.
pastafarian
Thanks again for the help, you've been a lot of help. I think I've managed to fix it, well, I've got past crashing after 4 seconds and got to a crash heavy place without incident. I don't know if this has actually fixed it, but it's worked for me. I had Immersive Armors installed along with Immersive Weapons. after removing Immersive Weapons my game seems to be running perfectly. I don't think this is any fault of the mod author, he does amazing work, I'm thinking there might be some clashes with JaSus Swords? Not sure if they add some of the same items. Again, thanks for your time and effort Georgie, I owe you a pint mate!
