Black Landscape Textures

What exactly causes them? and how do you fix it? It mostly happens to landscape textures at random, I have OBMM and Wrye Bash but I use Wrye Bash for most of my mods, I also have OBSE, BOSS, and ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated. Is this a texture problem, like to many textures? My texture folder has 14,752 files in it and my oblivion folder is 19.5GB.

 

Edit: I just read something about BSA Redirection and bain uses it as default. I uninstalled the ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated installer, and bain and OBMM are set to BSA Redirection, after this I got black textures on my character, this happened before actually. They go back to normal when I reload which is nice, but still searching for a fix.

Black landscape textures at random sounds like a shader issue to me. Do you have OBGE with a bunch of shaders installed?

Black landscape textures can also be associated with a bug caused when you change the dominant texture in a given cell, usually the one listed at the very top when you use the "I" button command in the CS. My experience has been that it happens only in the one cell I made that mistake with. Never had black textures appear at random.

I've never had it happen at the places where I made my two mods, but the sky did just turn black. My character has gone solid black, not her clothes or armor though, and so has certain things in trade and commerce, in the store, rugs chests walls floors. Still trying to figure it out.

If you have an older nvidia graphics card that may be the culprit. What you just described sounds almost like the nvidia blackscreen bug. At least the interior cell part of your problem. I personally never experienced it, but remember reading that it has something to do with fog distance setting in interior cells.

 

Exterior cells the only thing I know of that causes flash to black is faulty "Visible When Distant" meshes. Occurs when using HDR setting. But again, never experienced this myself, just working from memory of some articles I read in the past.

 

Anyone who has more knowledge of what might be happening can feel free to chime in and correct me if any part of my memory is flawed. I'm all out of ideas after these comments.

Thanks all your suggestions are helpful, and I'll try them soon, I have an AMD card though the Radeon hd 7970. I'll try using bloom instead of HDR. thanks.
