A "View new posts" per game?

I really like the "View new posts" feature, but with the FO3 SDK announcement, it will become useless to me as I am not going into FO3 (am I the only one?)

So it would be nice to have a similar function to see only the posts down the forum branch I am at the moment.

As an example, since I will stay with Oblivion, I would navigate to The Nexus Forums > Specific Games > Oblivion and the "View new posts" feature would show me only the posts in the Oblivion branch of the forums.

Or did I miss a way of accomplish this with the present forum features?

I'm so glad you posted, I've been wanting to request this myself, but didn't want to be a pain in the ass, but if I'm not the only one wishing for it, I'll gladly be that pain!

Not planning to ever go to the world of Fallout, sorry; and because of that I've been losing a lot of interest in Tesnexus forums, too hard to find much I'm interested in lately.

It is a feature of the IP.Board system. More specifically, it is a report that allows you to see any new posts made since your last visit, regardless of sub-forum. The more sub-forums added, the more diluted this will get. Dark0ne tries to avoid re-coding board code in order to make board upgrades faster and less complicated.

The way I handle this is to use Firefox and multiple tabs.

I frequently visit the following areas so I have an open tab for each one. Each time I open the browser, it goes to those sub-forums and obtains the current listing.

Oblivion Mods Today

Oblivion Mod Talk

Oblivion Requests

Fallout 3 Mods Today

Fallout 3 Mod Talk

Fallout 3 Requests

Nexus Staff Forum

Nexus Feedback

Nexus Admin Reports

Thanks for the explanation, LHammonds. Dark0ne's approach is a good practice to keep things under control.

I am afraid I will have to limit myself to a couple of forums, as I already have three IEs opened (one for forums, one for the Wiki and one for professional business). Each one with many tabs opened.

You may not realize this but Firefox has an awesome ability to handle such problems.

You can group tabs that are opened.

For example, if you have all the "Oblivion" forum places you visit (each in their own tab), click on Bookmarks --> Bookmark All Tabs and give it a foldername to place all the bookmarks into such as "TESNexus - Oblivion Tabs"

Right-click on a tab and choose "Close Other Tabs"

Go back into your Bookmarks menu, choose the "TESNexus - Oblivion Tabs" folder and select the link at the bottom called "Open All in Tabs"

You can then quickly visit each location and close the tab when done.

Do the same for your other tabs and you won't have to have multiple windows and it makes things much more organized.

Great tip!

I used to use the refresh key, but this way of yours seems better for the forums.

I use Internet Explorer and just the other day I noticed the "Save tab group" but didn’t see the use of it.

The "Open all in tabs" was kind of hard to find, but I have just found it on a side panel.

I have just finished the setup of several groups and everything works fine

Thanks.

Friend,

I too had no desire to try Fallout 3. I hadn't followed the development, hadn't played the first two and was put off by the silliest thing, I had seen the cartoon pictures which were to be used in the game and drew the incorrect conclusion that it was going to be a "silly / amusing / not serious" game. I'm so glad I paid attention to our community here and gave it a shot. I absolutely love it.

Please have a peek at this thread I started to get an idea of why: http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=83655

I really think you're missing out if you don't at least give it a try. It's basically the game we love already (Oblivion) in a different setting and now, of course, we're going to also be getting some of the wonderful mods we've grown to love.

Cheers.

Hi, Michlo,

I am sure FO3 is a wonderful game and I thank you for your interest in pointing me to it.

You see . . . I started playing Oblivion last March and soon started modding. Since I enjoy programming and always wanted to create a game, I found in modding Oblivion the perfect hobby for me. I have a few projects going and just started a new, big one: The Evolving Society (lore contributions welcome, btw). This will keep me busy most of 2009, I suppose. And, after all, I still have Oblivion to play: I barely started the main quest.

So, I am afraid I will skip FO3, as I will probably skip many other excellent games in 2009.

Thanks again.

No, I thank you. It is generous folk like yourselves who extend and enhance the games we love. :)

Cheers.
