ghosu
Hello Well yes, i already created a topic 'bout this a while ago but here we go again, i need specific support with that since the whole thing is still quite weird to me. Yes, i have a rough idea 'bout leveled lists and the possibility to add my stuff to NPCs using a general one (like a ranged weaponmissilelist) or just adding the weapon itself directly to the NPC's inventory, jeah i can let is spawn at lvl xx+ and i already played around with it but i'm still not sure HOW EXACTLY (!) i can accomplish it the best way - and i'm really sick of 20 minute + tutorials that tell me stuff i can learn in 2min and just show how to drag/drop an item to a list. It's a problem as well that i really don't play the game much, i'm more interested in modding so it's hard for me to get an idea 'bout balance. But enough blabla, this is what i tried so far: Opened all leveled lists i could find that sound like "bow" or "missile" "ranged" and added it to this list and checked actors, if they use such a list or the item directly - when they used the item directly (like a bow) i replaced the bow...same with ammo. I want all NPCs, that are normally equipped with a rifle/crossbow, use a rifle instead OR at least have a good chance to have one. BUT 1) There are sooo many different actors/encounters/lists - do i really have to check/edit them all? I mean...holy sh*t. 2) I want to add new weapons and ammo in upcoming updates, don't want to do it all again...so what's the easiest way? Create a leveled list (like picture, the one down below with all bows), add all my different weapons to it and one kind of ammo (an own low dmg version for NPCs without effects) and add this list to the other lists (like LItemWeaponMissileLowLevelItems)? 3) Balance? Lets say my weapons get the dmg bonus mainly by ammo, so i set the dmg value of all my guns to ... 15 and create an own ammo type for NPCs only with lets say 10dmg...i add the guns to the leveled items list, all levels - how works the dmg scale? Will the lvl 1 bandit get a dmg15 weapon with 10dmg ammo and the lvl 20 a dmg scaled version of the weapon and 10dmg ammo? http://666kb.com/i/c9dj6wl61pg4h4ba7.png You know, i'm a good allrounder but this is one big thing i have no real clue.If there is a ranged weapon mod out there, that succesfully adds a modded weapon to all/most NPCs in a balanced way, pls let my know - might be able to reverse engineer it. Any help is highly appreciated, thx & greetings Edited November 29, 2012 by ghosu
tg08096
The way leveled lists are structured in Skyrim is a real clusterfluck, which is why most people are forced to use wrye bash to make mods compatable. The lists are also a major contributor to the massive amounts of requests for conflict troubleshooting and noob spam. What you are attempting to do from what I understand is to add an item to every single npc in the game? And it would appear that you would like an easy way to do this. It would also appear that you would like to be able to do this in such a way that you can go in and change things around when you decide to do an update smoothly and without any crap. Oh yeah. . . and you want it to be balanced. . . I think you are neglecting attention to the MASSIVE conflicts that you will have if you do this. Unless you intend for your mod to be the only mod people will play with on a playthrough, you are going to have a crapstorm of problems. Every other comment will be a complaint of a broken mod or that your mod is breaking their other mods. You're going to want to take that flintlock pistol out of the holster and blow your brains out, imho. I really think you should take some time to re-envision what exactly you wish to accomplish with a mod like this. BTW, please tell me what exactly is the vision you have here so I can understand and possibly even help you find a solution. And if I haven't convinced you to change your approach by what I've said, then all I can say is Go for the gold.
Trucidation
Quick question - how did, say, Oblivion do leveled lists? I thought Skyrim was an "improved" engine. Noob here, just looked at the CK once and parts of my brain were already rebelling. I've modded other games before - simple stuff like new types of weaponry, stat changes, simple quest scripts, that kind of thing - but Skyrim seems obtuse (to put it mildly). tg08096
So ive been looking through leveled lists of actors today and realized that they don't all carry gold. I'm afraid the only way to have every npc in the game have an item is to give it to every npc in the game, unless you could somehow do a script that added the item to every actor at the time they are spawned. that also wouldnt cause conflicts. @Trucidation Back in the day, everything just had an inventory but it was a problem because respawning inventories would just add more on top of what was already there instead of replacing it, vendors would wear gear that you sold them, and all kinds of other issues. Oblivion started with the leveled lists and i never used the kit so idk exactly what they looked like. Skyrim seems to have expanded on that but in doing so has created new and terrifying problems. I think they wanted to do better/more but didnt have enough time. It's not like they didn't know how.
ghosu
The idea was to put all weapons into one list form (so i can update it easily) and add this list form to actor's inventory. Well, thx so far...i guess i will simply leave it out since it would take forever to make it balanced, i prefer to spend this time on modeling. The sh*tstorm 'bout an unbalanced mod would be bigger than the demand for such a mod, maybe i will add it sometime as an optional .esp (at own risk). But i will look into your idea of a script. Thx for your feedback, greetings Edited November 30, 2012 by ghosu
