lamalan
Is there a good npc AI overhaul mod? I have a fairly intense settlement but they all congregate in the same building and don't use the walkways on the other 3-4 stories. Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated. I added a screenshot of my settlement if it helps give an idea of where the settlers aren't going.
StormWolf01
Hi lamalan!Yes, the AI for the NPCs has definitely got more than a few things to be desired. The fact that most of them do not want to use stairs except in combat is one of the things that is on that list. That part of it at least, is part of what is called their "sandboxing". You can find several mods that address this. Tho, I do not know if you can use them together, or just one.https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20442 This one looks very good. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15608 This one is supposed to address them not wanting to use stairs. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/37579 Ok, after reading this one, this is an ADD-IN to the first link. It extends the effects to more than just settlers. It says that it can be used with, or as a standalone. I would not try these mods on your main playthrough save tho. Just because if these don't work the way that you want, you don't want that information in your main savegame. What I would recommend doing, is before installing them, create a fork in your savegame. The easiest way to do this, is to load your character, and then do a change name on them. Once you change the name, save the game. The new save you make will be different from your other saves, as the character has been renamed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRJUdf0Yu0g Here is a video that can show you how to do that, and the vanilla bug that is associated with it. I wouldnt worry too much about the latter, as this is just a test save.I would play around with it on the test save for a while. Til you make sure if this will work out for you or not. Afterwards you can just delete out the test saves. Hope this helps :)-Storm
lamalan
Awesome! Thanks for getting back to me and for the recommendations. I will definitely test those out create the forked save.
StormWolf01
Heyas Lamalan :) Not a problem at all, glad to help out where I can. Yeah, I do those forked saves quite a bit. I tend to test out a lot of weapon and new settlement mods. Both of which tend to have leveled lists or other scripts in them.It does a really good job of keeping your main playthrough clear of problems in the saves :DTho, I usually rename the character something starting with Test. Like TestNewSactuary or some such, so that it makes it easier to find them when deleting them. But that's just personal preference. Cheers!-Storm
