StorytellerArc Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Apart from Wrye Bash merging mods together (which it can't do many off) is there any other way to get around the 255 plugin/mod limit? Somehow I get the feeling that the answer is simply 'no' or very complicated.
khotus Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Even if there was a way to get it past 255, 324 would be max you could raise it to. Only have 2 digits in hex for load order, so 18 digits * 18 digits = 324. After that there would be no way to assign load order. Since it is set at 255 instead of 324 I would guess it is a hard-coded limit Bethesda put in for some kind of buffer reason. Or just to help maintain some kind of stability for the game. After 250 mods your talking serious chances for compatibility issues, bugs, crashes, and just plain system instability and lag.
ChampionOfHircine Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Not quite. 16 * 16 = 256 - 1 for Skyrim.esm. That's where the limit comes from.
steve40 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Thou shalt count to sixteen, no more, no less. Sixteen shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be sixteen. Seventeen shalt thou not count, neither count thou fifteen, excepting that thou then proceed to sixteen. Eighteen is right out. Once the number sixteen, being the sixteenth number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.
StorytellerArc Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 I thought it was something like that...
