A cabin

I wondered about that myself. Seems like they only use a very small amount of the ship's potential space. I always liked having multiple houses in Oblivion, so I didn't have to walk as far to drop off loot whenever I was trying to avoid fast travel.

I find Rivet city in general a little disappointing as with all the "towns" in the game - considering that Aircraft carriers are big enough to require crews of several thousand people, the overall population of Rivet is very small compared to the theoretical space available. The lack of having a residence there further contributes to the "city" feeling less like a city and more like... well... I don't know, a lazy excuse for a proper wasteland community?

A complete remake of Rivet City and the rest of the Wasteland communities is definitely high on my wish list when the toolset is released.

Well, a Vault is supposed to hold a thousand or so people, so it's reasonable to scale the places down so it's not a silly place to wander around in. Do you really need to build a 2000 person vault to get the feel of a vault? Nope. Same with Rivet City.

Also, as a former squid, an old and somewhat wrecked ship has lots of dangerous compartments that wouldn't be livable at all. So the size, while not entirely realistic, is somewhat accurate considering the situation.

Besides, you get a house for doing something awesome for the various factions, and Rivet City really doesn't need anything that would warrant such a reward.

I honestly think you should be able to buy the frikkin' things instead of only being able to get a pad by saving the day. Tell me Tenpenny Tower wouldn't be willing to sell you a place for the right amount of caps. That's how everybody else got in, why not us? I mean, after all, we're not Ghouls... :whistling:

It would be nice to have a pad at Rivet City, so I imagine this mod would not be far from being done since there does seem to be ample space available. Maybe one of the unused, trashed out storage rooms could be converted? I just hope no one gets ridiculous and adds a mansion-sized luxury pad. As stated before, most of the areas in a ship, even a big-deck, are not areas where people could live or even wander around safely.

On the topic of Rivet City itself, I'm really shocked that no one has asked "If the ship is broken in two, how's it still floating? That's so unrealistic!"

... Also, as a former squid, ...

I've always hated that term.

Er, 'cause it's obviously sitting on the bottom of the bay? I better get a cookie if I'm right. Two, maybe.

The real reason? Probably because nobody thought to ask.

Never bothered me in the slightest. While I prefer "Calamari," the term "Squid" will do in a pinch. Everybody knows what you're talking about. Zoomies, Dogfaces, Leathernecks (or my favorite: Passengers), it all gets the idea across instantly. That's why it never bothered me.

Then again, I never think too highly of myself, so I like a good insult.

I, for one, look forward to it, mate. Thanks. :)

I have to agree that the various communities in Fallout 3 are a bit to small, I know its sposed to be a wasteland buts its been over 200yrs since the bombs fell and it isn't hard to believe there would be bigger communities. I hope someone does some mods to increase population, I just don't know how hard it would be to change the size of places like Megaton.

*chuckles*

You must not have seen some of the amazing Oblivion mods such as Bananasplit's better cities, Giskard's overhauls, etc.

It is probably easier to believe "anything is possible from these talented folk".

Cheers.
