RavenKiro
I want to upload save my save data, but I also want to know if there's anything I should be aware of before I do it. I did all of my Saves on F4SE (Fallout 4 Script Extender), but no mods were active during my game-play. is it okay to upload that into the Fallout 4 Nexus? StormWolf01
Hiya Raven. It kinda depends. If you're uploading saves to share with people, so that they can use your characters then there's no problem. But if you're uploading files, to use the nexus as a storage media, or backup storage... then yes you can get into trouble. You might think about taking a few screenshots of the character, describe what level they are, if you gathered everything out of the vault, at what point you saved the game, if there's anything noteworthy about them such as for example - "Level 50 sided with the Minutemen"just stuff that will inform people about the savegame character. This may also help to encourage people to download. Tho I will also say this, and I'm not saying it to be mean. Only just to let you know. While it is fantastic that you are wanting to share... savegames don't get a lot of downloads for this game. Just letting you know. ;)
RavenKiro
thank you, I just want to upload it because well, it just gets really annoying to console command everything. I mean I want to start a new share a new game with all the crafting stuff. (so it'll be easier to test out mods) But if they already exist then well- ...I'd Like a Link at least. (and at least I wont loose any saves if something goes wrong with the pc)
StormWolf01
Heyas Raven. No prob, I'm always glad to try to help out ;)So ok. The part about sharing your character, that's ok. That's all well and good. The rest... that's gonna be a no-go. Using the Nexus for backups of your own files is against the rules. It not only uses up storage space, but also bandwidth. And encourages people to abuse what Dark0ne provides for free. I fully and completely encourage the backing up of your files. My sig even says so. But you can save them on other parts of your hard drive. you can save them to your google account if you have an android phone. Or in many cases, depending on how big the file size is, you can even email it to yourself and just redownload the email if you need to. You can save it to a usb stick or a micro sd card. There's so many storage options available to us now these days. But the nexus isn't one of them.Depending on the severity of the violation, you could get anything from a warning that will prohibit some of your access to the site functions for a set amount of time, to an outright ban on your account. I mean, why risk that, when it's easier AND faster to just Copy and paste it from a different place on your computer? As for all the console commands. Yeah, that I totally understand. It gets tedious. But it sounds like you might want to start using Batch files (aka bat files) to start using those commands in bulk, just from one command. Now, normally I put my own batch files together. But here's some that have already been made. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/362https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9511https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12021 bat files are pretty easy to use. They're just a text document with the console commands written into it. You just drop the text file into your fallout4 folder.then from the console name type in bat filename then hit enter. filename being the name of the text file. Like if I named my bat file "buildingstuff.txt" I'd type bat buildingstuff in the console. Another way to take care of your saves is by a method that I call "Forking" them. What you do to fork a savegame is to simply rename your character in game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRJUdf0Yu0g Youtube video that will show you how to do that. Once you do the namechange and the special respec, all you do is save the game you're on. It creates an entirely different branch of savegames from your regular saves, since the character is no longer named the same.I use this, a LOT for testing mods. I can't even count the number of "Test0xx Character" save games that I have. Hope some of this helps you out. ;)But yeah... don't use the site for backup storage. Bad things, bro ;)-Storm
