fancyleggs
hi im trying to make a custom destruction spell using a custom magic effect, I have my effect set the way i would like and i have played with the taper setting for more than 3 hours and when i equip the spell in game everything works but i cause no damage, the only way i can get damage to occur on npcs without making my magic effect change is by adding "unspecified damage" to the spell in ck. If i add say lightning bolt or something i get that spells effects overriding mine, except for on impact then my magic effects play. Could someone give me a quick walk through or tell me if i have to have "unspecified damage", i looked at other spell mods i have in ck but none of them show anything other than the custom magic effect that they use
ShadowDragyn
When you made the custom Magic Effect, what did you set as the Effect Archetype and the Associated Item? Those are what designate the effect as damage. Also, what did you set the magnitude to within the spell itself?

ShadowDragyn
The issue seems to be that you have the Effect Archetype set as Cloak. Cloak is a buff, not an attack.Look at the pre-existing Fire Damage Magic Effects and see what they use.
