VaSTinY
Hello Nexus Forums, I'm having the apparently common problem of the Pip-Boy not playing any music. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit SP1 and using Fallout New Vegas with all the DLCs (including weapon packs) with Nexus Mod Manager. Here's my load order but I don't believe it's possible that it's a load order issue: FalloutNV.esmHonestHearts.esmDeadMoney.esmOldWorldBlues.esmLonesomeRoad.esmCaravanPack.esmClassicPack.esmMercenaryPack.esmTribalPack.esmGunRunnersArsenal.esmCINEMATECH.esmProject Nevada - Core.esmProject Nevada - Cyberware.espProject Nevada - Equipment.esmProject Nevada - Rebalance.espoHUD.esmDarNifiedUINV.espThe Mod Configuration Menu.espDeadMoneyGasFix.espThe Groovatron NV.espMax Level 100.espBoostedSkills.espExtraTraitsPack_Reputations.espThe Strip Map Markers.espReadius_NV.espPMT - Destructible Ordnance.espPMT - Explosive Robots.espPMT - Nastier Mines and Grenades.espPMT - Nastier Mines and Grenades Longer Timer.espPMT - Slower Reloading.espPMT - Slower Reloading No Visible Perk.espRadroach Companion 'Steve'.espDLC Corner Messages.espQuicker PipBoy Light-0_2Sec.espNVWillow.espNoCompLimit.espToggler [MCM]New Vegas Trade CenterMP412REX.espVagrant Armor.espAK47.espZionMerchant.espZionExpandet.espELECTRO-CITY - Imaginator.espThe Weapon Mod Menu.espQuick Trade.espFPSWeaponWheel.esp Shittons of mods, I know, but they'ev all been working flawlessly with eachother so I see no problem there. Yes, the Pip-Boy Radio music works and plays fine in Fallout 3.Yes, the game plays every single sound perfectly but not the Pip-Boy's music, it doesn't play at all.Yes, other radios that are placed throughout the wasteland play music fine.Yes, .mp3 files work perfectly fine and play perfectly fine on any other media player on my PC.Yes, the music in the Main-Menu is playing fine.Yes, the in-game music tracks play fine (combat, exploration, dungeons, etc)No, my Radio volume slider isn't all the way down. No, I will not use an external media player to play music while I play the game - Why? I play in fullscreen and that would have to make me minimize every time I wanted to turn off the music which would be a long, boring, and often CTD-y process. No, I will not play in windowed mode to fix the above problem. If I for example turn Radio New Vegas on, I'll hear Mister New Vegas do his little speech, then he announces a song like usual, but then it cuts to silence where the song is supposed to play. I've played for a good 200 hours since 2010 in New Vegas and the radio has been working perfectly. But only recently (Last weekend-ish) has this problem started happening during my time develping a mod, I had my brother record some .mp3 files as dialogue - and little did we know that dialogue uses .ogg files, and when I went to try the dialogue out ingame, it of course didn't play. I believe it is around this time the radio stopped playing music. I do believe it's an issue with codecs, since the Pip-Boy radio plays .mp3 files, and other wasteland radios play .wav files, but I've been unable to solve it so far.I have done literally just about every single thing suggested in this thread: Radio stutter (No my radio isn't having any stutter problems, and neither is any other sound in my entire game. But the things mentioned in the thread seemed very related to the Music itself not playing) So by now I've pretty much tried: Used the InstalledCodecs program as instructedUsed the DirectShow Filter Reset program from the FONV NexusInstalled the K-Lite Codec Pack BasicInstalled the CCCP Codec PackUninstalled AC3filter and any other codec pack I could findInstalled FFDShow and made sure FalloutNV.exe and Fallout3.exe are in the "Do not use" list + The Merit slider being all the way to the left I'm out of ideas here other than making this thread, I hope anyone knows what's going on here because I miss the repetitive-but-great radio music on-command from the Pip-Boy Re-posting because my first post screwed itself up with
and
and stuff, I hope this one is readable enough Edited December 2, 2012 by VaSTinY

VaSTinY
Sweet jesus they do work, I downloaded and tried Radio Classical and Enclave Radio and they both play music fine.In that case I'm going to assume it might be a problem with the game's .mp3 radio files, but the weird thing with that is I haven't edited or replaced them ever. phoneyLogic
Maybe you accidentally edited the sound files, the folder structure or the ingame station. It even could be a mod as well. But since mp3s are playing you can exclude codec issues.
VaSTinY
I've never touched the sounds folder in the game directory, or any of the radio stations in any mod I've made or I'm using. I guess I'll just reinstall the game and see if that helps, or check if it's a mod doing it, thanks for the help.
Alznorg
Hey, I know this is an old thread, but I am having the EXACT same issue as you. Modded radio stations DO work. Did you ever get the pipboy radio working? I have tried pretty much everything I can think of. Any more advice? I have deactivated all my mods, reinstalled the game several times, reinstalled the game cache, and tried the K lite codec thing. I really am at a loss. The only thing I can think of that would edit the sound files is a FNV radio extender mod, but like I said, has been deactivated.
