civil war skyrim - nord faction vs imperial

I have decided to follow the true defenders of Talos and support the Nord faction. I have tons of imperial blood on my hands yet they do not seem to mind me walking by them - it's as if they don't know who I am. Every encounter I muse instigate a conflict - this is rather blah..

perhaps because I am playing an imported mod race?? I don't know - it's not so exciting tho - I was hoping they would be eager to rush off to bloody my face up - yet nope, I think they would rather have a cup of tea

Have you actually joined the Stormcloaks? If so, walking into a Legion camp should make the imperials hostile. They'll start by telling you to get lost, but if you don't comply they will attack you.

On the other hand, there isn't anything stopping you from walking into the Legion HQ in Solitude and standing right next to General Tulius while he discusses battle tactics with Rikke, even if you're very obviously a Stormcloak. (I know because I did exactly that when I decided to switch sides. It's lucky for Tulius I'm such a turncoat.)

There is a part of the questline (at least on the Imperial side) where you get to impersonate a messenger, so of course I went all out and actually dressed up in full Stormcloak attire for just that mission. Still, I can't help but suspect the Stormcloak officer would have bought it even if I walked up to him in full legion armor. It's sort of depressing.

He questions your lack of uniform, but you can convince him you are in disguise to prevent the legion from intercepting the message.

yeah - everytime I show back up at my bath house I have a nice imperial patrol trying to ransack the place - lucky for me some of my best customers are storm cloak soldiers - "they know where the party is at"

the thalamar or whatever those ugly dominion elves are know who i am - they were attacking me in markarth until i succesfully went to prison in markarth. Once I broke out of prison in markarth right as The forsworn were attacking the markarth city guards, I cut left out of the action and picked the door just to your left to escape through the halls of the dead - by going to prison, and escaping without conflict/combat with markarth guards- my guess is I was able to reset my bounty.

Resetting my bounty got rid of Tyranus aggression in markarth - "The Witch Hunter"

and

reset the thalmar/ugly elf aggression

this let me complete my blackmailing of jarl igmund's uncle.. without doing this I was forced into conflict with the thalmar/ugly elves

lot of little glitchy things in the civil war story line - but still fun to play - everytime I go to a storm cloak encampment or back to my bath house I can loot all the forsworn and imperials for gold and sellable items

I also play priest and rez all the dead storm cloak soldiers - that's another "not so real" part of the game - rezzing your storm cloaks instead of receiving reinforcements would be a little more realistic.

so the key is completing the "talos temple" quest by evading tyranus well enough to go to prison first.

as far as the imperials not being aggressive in solo confrontation - my toon is a unpb bbp over sexed looking toon - maybe that's it
