Already using BS Defence, but any method/mod to completely turn off settlement attacks?

I installed BS Defence to help with the constant settlement attacks - however I'm finding that I still have to go in person to take care of things, because I suppose they don't "win" the attack, since I get the "Failed" notification. I keep Defense higher than food + water.

Is there a good, working mod to perhaps just completely disable these attacks?

Heyas Don. Settlement defense doesn't do a whole lot to determine the outcome of the fight. If you're not at the settlement when it's attacked, the game literally just rolls a dice to see if they win or lose.

This might work for you, but states that it only works on a new game. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/34476?tab=posts

This might also work. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18936 Only makes the attacks happen if you're at the settlement.

This has some other settlement benefits, but also has a tape to stop attacks. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12430 Edit: For any future references, Don has another thread about how this started causing him CTD's and the problem baked into his savegame.

Tho I haven't used any of these myself. My settlements don't have settlers. No settlers, no attacks :D

I have been using No Settlement Attacks for some time and it has worked great. It makes it so you cannot have an attack at any settlement unless you are in that settlement and even then the chances are low. I do get the rare attack but only when I'm there and the turrets and guards take care of it before I can get to it. No more questing in Nuka World and a settlement in Far Harbor gets attacked nonsense. I highly recommend this mod.

Thank you Storm and Handy! I might try the Uncapped Settlement Surplus - I like the idea that my water and food production won't just stop (imo it's more immersive that they would keep producing anyway lol)

If I end up not like that, I'll use NSA!

So update: I had actually given No Settlement Attacks a quick run, but I came across an interesting issue: With some settlers, and almost randomly, the trade UI would pop with no prompting. I would get close to a settler, not press any buttons, and then the trade UI would come up.

Is this caused by NSA? This didn’t before installing this mod - or at least I had never seen it happen before (I spend a lot of time going back and forth and visiting various settlements).

I wonder if it could have something to do with the mod altering scripts to disable attacks?

I have had No Settlement Attacks for almost 2 years now and have never had that happen once.

If you want a non invasive method to disable settlement attacks, its a simple script setting (AllowAttacks) on each workshop which the ever elegant Workshop Ownership Utilities will switch off and on for you.

Unfortunately most of the old tech mods mentioned don't understand this, so hack base game scripts or assets with consequences.

Or if you want attacks that don't happen when the player is away based on half-arsed resource calculations Settlement Attack System can switch base game attacks off and provide proper configured attacks.

Hm, yah I've noticed that with some stuff. Earlier I was looking into getting Deacon to stop changing outfits. There was one .esp I found that accomplished it, but looking in Creation Kit/FO4Edit, it looked like it just kinda hacked off a lot things it didn't need to. I made my own .esp just changing what turned out to be the only scripts that needed modifying.

I'll check your mod out! Though if I wanted to make my own simple .esp for this, do you know where I'd find that script/property that would need to change in Creation Kit?
