Make NPCs ackowledge Custom Race as vanilla race?

Is there anyway to make NPCs (Guards, Stormcloaks, Legion etc.) recognize a custom race (i.e. Ashen) and give the appropriate comments for a desired race (I've got my eyes on you Imperial, Greetings Redguard whatever you know what i mean). I have looked through the Google and forums and though this topic has been brought up before its never been resolved. Is there any new insight into this? I would assume that in the CK there is a way to associate the custom race to the main quest dialogue that occurs in the opening scene. Otherwise I am at a loss, I have looked through the Race files in CK and there is nothing that jumps out at me as being related to npc dialogue. Any help?

A tag needs to be added to the race in the editor so that they'll get that race's response from NPC's by default. Faik though, the Ashen is already set up this way.

It is? I have heard nothing to that effect so far in game and I know Hadvar leaves out any vanilla race specific lines.

I am looking in Character/ Race and all I see is a keywords box with ActorBretonProxy though I am sure this is unrelated, is there anyone willing to give me two or three steps as to how I could make the race be say Imperial?

is there ANY custom race mods that DO get the race specific dialog? i've tried Lunari and Temptress. i thought for sure the "Custom Races" mod would get it. thought that was the whole reason for a custom race mod that emulated the vanilla races so closely...but was reading that the CR mod does NOT trigger race dialog. so anyone know of one that does???

I'm just guessing here but, I don't think there's any mods that do this for one simple reason. Voice acting. Those races aren't included in the vanilla game so there's no voice acting that references them.

Since there's no audio that references them, you'd have to turn on dialogue text to even notice if something like this was made. The only other option would be if a modder made an audio mod so that the names of those races is spoken in game and that would result in the voices of NPCs suddenly shifting back and forth between multiple voices whenever they referenced the name of your character's race, unless someone wanted to go and redo all the voices of the NPCs that reference races with all new voice acting and then they'd have to include a lot of races that might not even be in your game just to be sure that the race your playing does show up. That or every person making a custom race would have to include new voice acting with their mod and that would result in people having to uninstal one race mod every time they wanted to use a different one so audio files don't get overwritten or cause one person to have multiple voices.

Something like what Fuzzy is asking for could be possible where a custom race would be considered a subset of a vanilla race and was referred to as that with races like the lunari possibly being called nords or something along those lines and I'm sure someone that's good at audio splicing could get a falmer character referred to as their race. Not sure how you'd do it though.

that might be the case for some race mods that're custom voiced but not all are. pretty sure there are race mods where they just tagged the "raceX" as a breton or whatever. also i tried the Custom Races mod and sure nuff, they do NOT trigger race dialog. even tho i thought that was the WHOLE point of the mod! why it was basically unchanged vanilla races, but w/ their own folders so u could change bodies, animations ect

Ok this is more of a bump than any real help to this topic. I have been pulling my hair out over this searching through the CK for anything that might help. However all I do is get negative results and I am sure that if I did get it to work it would just screw up the save. I am not that skilled in CK and I am afraid I will do something stupid, however TESVEdit is coming along quite well and I will try and use that and see what happens.

From what I have been reading it seems no custom race has race specific dialogue attached to it. If we can get this issue ironed out perhaps this will help modders out there with plans to add custom npc dialogue for custom races. But for now if anyone can just figure out how to add vanilla race dialogue to custom races that would be a good start.

I'm actually a bit more interested in knowing this as well now. Been cobbling together custom races that are basically just teenage versions of the vanilla races since it's been bugging me that there's only little kids and adults with nothing in between and it'd be nice to have them actually referred to by their race like the vanilla ones are.
