Modding Questions Please Help

Hello members of the Dragon Age Community,

I am new to adding mods or modding I think it is called and I have read over the Dragon Age Mods for Dummies and while I understand the different types of mods and what programs I should use to install them I am still concerned with a few things and am unsure on how to proceed or avoid certain conflicts.

1. Is there a way or a program that will alert me of conflicting mods or mods that will cause in game crashing? As I am sure it is for most of you nothing is more annoying or will make me want to drop the game for a while than to get so far into it and all of a sudden have a conflict or error in the program and have to start from scratch and since Dragon Age isn't as open world as say TES games it is pretty hard to install mods and test them out without having to go through some degree of progression through the storyline.

2. What are some Major or Must Have patches/mods that fix or add key elements to the game. I am asking about Patches and Mods that don't really change the game but fix or add elements that the game incorporates. One such example I remember from when I first started playing DA:O was the Morrigans Restoration Patch which (if my memory serves me correct) added banter to Morrigan that was left out of the game but was still in the coding.

3.Are there any modpacks? Just a compilation of mods that work together so I don't have to just add mods and hope they work together lol

4.Any Mods that help people like me who are color/shade blind? I have problems discerning between different colors and its hard to enjoy many games art when you cant tell the difference between many of the colors used in the palette.

I do have a question that is off topic but I would rather not have to create an entire new thread for just one question

What settings can I run DA:O at giving my PC Specs and are there any mods that can better help my performance to make the game run smoother?

PC Specs

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OS

RAM 4gb RAM 3.5 usable due to OS

CPU AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-Core Processor 2.70 GHz

GPU NVIDIA Geforce GTS 450 306.97 Drivers

Thank you for your time and answers

Answers in order:

1. No. But unlike many other games, in DA having two mods that "conflict" simply results in one working and one not. It doesn't cause the game to crash or anything.

2. I use, (as you already mentioned) MRP. Plus Dialogue Tweaks, Dragon Age Rules FixPack, and Qwinn's FixPack v2.0 (apparently no longer available on the BSN).

3. Since the Nexus specifically prohibits "compilations", you won't find any here. There are a couple of attempts to provide the "chargenmorphcfg.xml" file needed to get specific collections of appearance mods to work together, but that's about it. (And I prefer using Terra-Ex's "CharGenMorph Compiler" utility for that task anyway, since it isn't limited to one author's decisions as to which mods to use.)

(I also find DAO-ModManager (DAMM) invaluable in helping me keep track of, install, and remove ".dazip" and ".override" mods. But neither it, nor DAModder (DAM) can provide assistance with all the other types of files for DA mods. And although DAM does try to accomodate ".zip" files as best it can, it isn't able to handle ".override" ones)

4. I got nothin'. Maybe someone else knows of a way to help with this.

Off-Topic. With that rig, you should be able to run the game at max, or near-max graphics settings. Start there and dial back on "Antialiasing" and the other supporting settings before messing with the "level of detail".

Hope that helps!

1. Best advice is to read the descriptions and the readme's that come with the files, follow instructions to letter and you shouldn't have any problems.

2. As far as dialogue fixes go, MRP, Dialogue Tweaks (DT) and Zeveran Dialoge Fixes (ZDF) cover most everything and are compatible with each other. MRP and ZDF use the same files while to use them with DT just make sure you get the compatible versions of each. Quinn's I don't think is available anymore and even if it is, it hasn't been updated in years. Just about all its fixes are in the other three.

4. This mod changes the health bar and mana/stamina bars to make them easier to see for people who are colorblind.

Hope that helps.
