Zewks
I know there are a few mods out there that apply new hairs like those from apachii to various NPCs. These seem to be done by hand, on a 1 to 1 basis, rather than a global sweep of all the hair styles. IE: find the npc you want to change, pick new hair, save... repeat. Do the NPCs in skyrim not pull their hairstyles from some central list of hairs? IE: If you were to change NPC Hairstyle 1 completely, then wouldnt all npcs that use that hairstyle now have the new style instead? A global sweeping change. Is this even possible? Are there mods out there that do this already?
IsharaMeradin
In theory, you should be able to replace the default mesh & tri files with those of a custom one. It's not done, because it would remove the default hairs from the game. However, if you edited & renamed the original forms that might allow you to retain the default hairs as new hairs with the new hairs replacing the default hairs.... follow? Could that be something that is made into a mod though? Seems like it would need to be something you do specifically to your copy of Skyrim, not something that you could create a mod for, unless there was a way to say "Override all cases of Hairstyle A with New Hairstyle Z" within a mod. IsharaMeradin
You make a plugin. Edit & rename the existing hair forms (this makes a new entry) . Then edit the original forms to point to the files for the new hairs. This should allow the new hairs to replace the default hairs on any npc wearing them and the old hairs still available for player use if desired. hair forms are under the HeadPart section of Character in the Object window
