Akominatus
I am stuck in the final stages of the Illuminated Order mod. Specifically, I have been challenged by Mehrunes Dagon to find and return Mehrunes’ Razor, which supposedly “lies in the Alas Tomb near Molag Mar”. I don’t know what “near” means in this context, but I have used a CE Levitate amulet to fly in increasing circles round and round Molag Mar for over two hours real-time, and still haven’t found the damn thing. How far out is one supposed to go? (Incidentally, I hate this type of vague instruction which doesn’t include at least a compass direction). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should add that in all other respects, I have found this mod to be of very high quality, being intelligent, interesting, literate, well-constructed and full of surprises; I other words, I would happily have paid good money for it. cmac
The tomb can be found in the center of the Molag Amur mountain range, North of Molag Mar, and South of the Erabenimsun Ashlander camp. The tomb is small and you should quickly discover that there is no Razor to be found. You should find a rusty dagger on the body of Varner Hleras on the altar. If you return to Mehrunes with this dagger, he will transformit into the Razor for you. And, this quest isn't a mod- it exists already within the game. Akominatus
Many thanks - found it. BTW, what's going on here in terms of plot construction? This was definitely a quest that came up in the course of completing the Illuminated Order mod. Does it also exist as a separate Morrowind quest? I'm a bit confused... cmac
Not a seperate quest, no. The exact same quest exists within Morrowind, to achieve the exact same goal.
cactoblasta
SPOILERS If you look at the readme the author explains that he wanted to make becoming a liche extremely expensive, in addition to being beneficial. The price of becoming one is giving up all of the daedric shrine items, which are some of the most powerful items in the game.
Akominatus
So he's incororated existing plot elements into his mod plot line. Very elegant, as he's managed to do it quite seamlessly. I'm impressed. Thanks to all for the feedback...
