Saturos_69
Hi, just stopped by to ask some technical questions about Oblivion. as much as I love that game, it's not for the casual gamer really. So many patches, mods, and tweaks just to get the game working just the way I wanted, and after a full year, I'm still not finished tweaking. In any case, I'm finally glad to be able to finally visit this forum! I'm a bit geeky, so I guess I'll fit in ok. :>

bben46
Welcome to Tesnexus. Actually, Oblivion is an exercise in tweaking with a pretty good game included.
Saturos_69
Thanks. :> Even though Oblivion taught me quite a bit about tweaking PC games, such as messing around with the .ini files, installing mods, etc. I still can't help but to think how much the devs could have improved to minimalize these sort of things, although I do love the flexibility and immersion some mods can offer. Sometimes I just flat give up and push away from my PC whenever I stumble across something I can't fix at the moment, but I love Oblivion so much though, and I'm not even a die-hard Elder Scrolls fan. (never played Daggerfall, Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon, just Oblivion) Alas, I leave for the Navy Dec 09 and will eventually have to get a new system and rebuild Oblivion from scratch in my spare time after training and once I am stationed and have my own apartment. At least I'll know where I left off and what to get/do up to this point. Thanks for the warm greetings! I won't be posting at all obviously for the next couple of months after the 09, but I'll make it a point to stop by when I get the chance, and also when I'm ready to start over with Oblivion. :>

Just about any game will have "official" patches to deal with so that is a moot point. But the existence of the Construction Kit, tools / utilities and over 13,000 mods uploaded for Oblivion so far is a testament to the ability of players being able to bend the game to how they want it played. I believe it was Gez that once said something like this: "The Construction Set is the game and Oblivion is just an example of what can be done" Oh, and welcome to the Nexus!
