The best after market Heatsink

Recommended Posts

Hello i have a problem, maybe you can help me out

My problem is i am not going to use the stock heat sink that came with the 8350 or my older 1100T, which actually the stock heat sink was really good. i managed to get to 4ghz stable with it. Might go water cooling or fans, not sure what do decide on.

I haven't used a after market heat sink before, i always went with stock... ???? new path i'm taking??

I've done some research but i would like some opinions first from you techies out there http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif I'm very uncertain which to decide on, soo many options. I would mainly like quiet and cool.. Not noisy and loud, so water cooling is up for discussion???

example, not sure sure if its socket specific??? that to would be a good idea???

One thing going locally, if it brakes or it doesn't work, you can take it back for refund.. unlike online shopping http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif rather play it safe.

Tigerdirect has a really good return policy http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif

if you go W/C your best just getting the H100(i) its the only one of the series that can actually perform at or beat the high level air coolers. not sure if your Antec supports a top 120x2mm rad. i would assume it does, but just something too check. and make sure is has 15mm spacing. its a standard that most cases follow but again, something to check,

other then that go air cooling. the Havik 140 is a great Cheap Air cooler. only like $65 and performs at the line of the D14 (which is much cheaper now, was $100 a couple months ago) and the H100. and is prettier to look at then the D14 (both color wise and it only has one tower vs two). the Havik is also smaller and more likely to fit into a case then the D14.

No I'm going with that model, its easy to install judging by the video bellow. And the socket specifics is what I'm looking fro to, sense my Asus 990fx motherboard nativeley supports this type of cooling, so does my case.

that's what you get for getting a 200$ motherboard http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif

if by "that model" you mean the single 120mm rad, then well ok. i would still suggest getting the 120x2mm rad or a high end air cooler. those 120mm single rad coolers just cant do as much. i would only recommend those if your case Cant fit a 120x2mm rad and has a window (imo heatsinks look ugly) if you dont have a window, go heatsink or the 120x2mm rad.

on top of that, just about any high end cooler (ie the three that i had named) and most coolers in general for that matter, will come with back plates for an AMD bored so. its the cooler you need to make sure have the part for the board. the board itself has nothing to do with it. a cooler that can fit an AMD board will fit an $200 board and a $50 board. the price of your board nor the manufacturer has anything to do with it.

as for ease of installing, CLC systems are all easy. for the most part its, put the back plate on and put the block on. no giant tower in the way so its a lot easier.

lastly if you are getting Corsair, get the new "i" versions. theyve tested to get slightly cooler. have better, integrated software, and a full color LED. the old ones have only White, AND to change the fan speed, you HAVE to push the button on the block. in addition, the fans for the new "i" series, are much better and are variants on their Corsair Air Series fans, which are some of the best fans on the market.

Hmm you mean something like this, not all caases support two x fan mounts you know.. i think mine only supports a single slot fan??

No reviews of this model

unless they can be split up or different locations.

Yup mine only supports a single unfortunately

i think I'll stick with the model i chose, the reviews are to good to pass up. Also here is a pdf manual of my case, it might shed some light on compatibility.
