Epervier666
Hi First, excuse my english, because I'm french.I have made a program which can translate mod in french. For doing this, it is based on a database, which contains all strings from french and English version, and ID and EDID. (and from Dawnguard and Heathfire too)I would like to post this program on the nexus, but I'm wondering about the legal aspect of it (because of the databse).I have sent an email to the person qhoi own this site (via the contact link), but I ask the question here because I don't know if he manages this kind of thing. If a moderator can answer me... I think it's okay, because normally, all people coming here have Skyrim and can have it in several language, thanks to steam, but I prefer a confirmation. I would not like being baned for posting unappropriate. For information, I think my program can be adapted easily for Fallout 3 et New Vegas, and for Oblivion and maybe Morrowind as well (because the similar structure of the files). Dudeman325
Check the permissions on the mod's page. They usually have a comment saying if translation mods are okay or not. Sometimes you should send the author a private message asking if you can translate. Translations are usually done on a case-by-case basis, depending on what the original author wants done with their work. Have fun! I think I have made a bad explanation : I don't want to post a translation for a particular mod, but a program which can translate mods. Something like Egg Translator if you know it.With this sort of program, I think asking permissions for translations won't be necessary, because you can save translation on a xml, and then apply it to the mod. So the mod has to be downloaded from the orginal location. Well, again , maybe I'm mistaking.
Dudeman325
Well... I've seen a few programs posted here, I don't think it would be a serious issue, as long as your work is your work. At the very least, if a moderator doesn't like what you are doing they can always pull your file. :D Hope you find out what to do!
Epervier666
The program itself is fine and is all mine ! (except for a zilb.dll which can be freely found on the net... but I think all program working with esp uses it (because it's used to decompress the field.... compressed :) ).It's the databse which concerns me, because it contains all texts from skyrim.esm, dawnguard.esm and Heathfire.esm, french and english version.Well, I will wait a few days, and if no response, I will post it and see what happend (please don't ban me ! :P)Thanks for your answers anyway !!
