I've just made the best mistake ever!

Recommended Posts

Yippee!

To cut to the chase, I was working on a circlet and got the _Go nif looking how I wanted. I then started doing all the other nifs, applying my textures, emmisivity values, specular, etc. On the second last nif, I put my diffuse metal texture onto the gems by mistake...

... OMG!

After I'd stopped cursing my schoolboy error and looked at the result, I realised how spectacular it looked! Rather than the standard Skyrim gemstones, the gems all resemble snake eyes... perfect for my necromancer circlet. Adjusting the other settings, I now have 3 snake eyes with demonic red glows inside.

I now have to make my earlier nifs match this one, but that's cool.

This has got to be the best mistake I've ever made in CK!

Have you made 'mistakes' that turned out to be great? If so, what? Add images to prove your point, if you like.

The dragon text reads, "Ov dinok", BTW, meaning 'Trust death!'

Thanks for the compliment.

Watch all the tutorials you like. Darkfox127 does really reliable videos. That's where I started. Before you dive into modding you'll need to get SSEedit. Once you've got that installed, get SSEedit fixes from Nexus and install that. Once that's done, you'll want to follow the guide on the forum to clean your master files. With that all out of the way you can start modding. SSEedit is essential, as is cleaning the masters.

Your best way to learn is by doing, though. Make yourself a simple dungeon mod. The creation kit dungeon tutorial is good for this. Each time you get stuck, look for tutorials. That should get you familiar with the creation kit. If you get relly stuck with anything, just ask on here!
