DraykCannon
I was playing around and figured out how to get an NPC to drop items (even what they have equipped). 1. Press "`" to enter the console2. Select the NPC (must be close to the NPC, their name will show up at the top of the screen)3. type "showinventory"4. decide what you want them to drop.5. type "drop [item reference ID] 1" (without the brackets) If they have more than 1, replace the 1 with the quantity you want them to drop. Voila! The item should now be on the ground at their feet, and you can take it without "stealing". Also useful to remove clothing from the NPC. *** Be careful! I have not tested this on quest items or items not normally available to the player.
jgarling
Here is a question though: Can you get Clover to drop her Sawed off shotgun? The one that she just magically has and isn't in her inventory?
Uzibeatle
Yes, just use removeallitems that totally removes everything they would equip even that stupid shotgun. by removing I mean vaporising. It does not end up in your inventory. The one NPC I know of that this does not work as desired is the successful hooker ofTenpenny tower, Ms Lancaster. She ends up reequipping her default gear when she goes into her'take a Tenpenny John to bed ' loop at night. Each and every night.
Halsfield
This might be useful if it were somehow streamlined and made into an ability like the nudespell in oblivion(and morrowind i think) for adding your own clothing to npcs, revealing lingerie, obviously making armed npcs unarmed, etc.
Zalmoxis
This info is very useful. I'm planning on having... ... Colonel Autumn drop his coat and weapon when you let him go at the end of the main quest in the Free Play after MQ mod. Now I'd just have to know how to add clothing to an npc's inventory and have him equip it. Kudos and regards,-Zalmoxis.
Guest
If you want the items currently carried by an NPC, type "`" to open the console, then use your mouse to select the NPC, then type "duplicateallitems 00000014" (without the quotes). By entering this code, you recieve a copy of everything the NPC is carrying in your inventory (you are 00000014 in the games code). This is a way to get what certain NPCs are carrying without killing them including special weapons and apparel. It doesn't remove the items from them, so it shouldn't bug any quests, but I can't guarantee that. CAUTION! Using this trick will create an odd situation where you will be wearing what you originally had on (before using this command) "AND" what the NPC was wearing at the same time. If you use this trick, you should go into your inventory and click on the items you received from the NPC to remove them. This includes weapons and apparel. Additionally, you may receive items that the game won't recognize as ownable items. If you look under the "items" catagory, you will see items sometimes that are named "missing item". You should right click (drop) on these to remove them from your inventory. They won't appear on the ground, but you'll be rid of them. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
