wulvfen
Ok mewfii, here's a [sorta] n00b gonna try and help. Please, PLEASE don't think I'm being insulting to you when I state the following, I'm really trying to help out with what I've learned so far. As you stated you have FOMM and NVSE, I'm sure you know what you're doing. [1]-Install ALL your games and all other files to your " C/Games " files directory, DO NOT install into your " C/Program Files ".Installing into program files is not a real problem with Win-XP, but with Win-Vista, -7, or -8, the UAC [ uh..I think it means Unauthorized Access Control?] will play havoc with the game. I install all my games into the " C/Games ' directory as default and have no problems, although I'm using Win-XP. and not the newer OS's.[2]-Make sure you activate the game through your Steam account. This is required.[3]-Steam does not to be running to play the game, but you need to be in " Offline mode" to play if it is not. This is required.[4]-Install FOMM to wherever.I suggest you keep it in your " C/Games/ "[5]-Install BOSS to wherever.Again, I suggest you keep it in your " C/Games/ "[6]-NVSE v3 and all included files [the loader, the .dll's, and any others in the NVSE package] installed to " C/Games/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout New Vegas ". This is where the New Vegas game launcher and .exe files are located. It is NOT the data folder. I use the v3 beta, but if your leery of beta's, use v2b12.[7]-NVSE Extender plug-ins [any] installed to " C/Games/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout New Vegas/data/nvse/plugins.If the folders " /nvse/plugins ' don't exist, create them. I use " nvse extender v11 " found on another site as I use some of the mods there and is required to make them function properly.[8]-Run BOSS to auto-sort your load orderor[9]-Use FOMM to manually sort your load orderLoad order should be as follows; ESM's- Fallout New Vegas, Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, followed by Gunrunners Arsenal, then Couriers Stash [or the Pre-order packs- Classic, Caravan, Mercenary, Tribal ], then any required ESP's in the same order below them.[10]-Make sure FOMM's Archive Invalidation is unchecked for the vanilla game, or CHECKED if you have ANY kind of mod or alteration installed, no matter what it does.[11]-Use the NVSE loader to activate the NVSE functions and launch the game for the first timeAfter that, you can launch NVSE via the launch button on the opening page of FOMM, or you can create a shortcut wherever you want. Also, get FNVEdit, it's a great tool for editing and conflict detection/resolution. Install all to your New Vegas folder alongside the launcher and NVSE and run it. You'll get a " Background " loader run that may help you find your problem. For more on how to use it properly, find the manual on the nexus and download it, I have and it's saving me a world's worth of stress and headaches. I think that's it for what I know at this time. Again please don't be insulted if it seems I've treated you as a n00b, which I am [sorta] I'm just trying here. Hoping this helps! Good luck, good gaming Want to stay young? bben46
Mostly good advice. :thumbsup:Some additionsUAC is User Access Control - that is Microsoft's way to keep you from making changes to a program without special permission. It was intended to prevent viruses from making changes that disabled antivirus protection. But for some reason they applied it to EVERY program in the default location to install. It can easily be defeated by installing games to a folder outside of the default 'Program Files' folder. I use C:\games\gamename for non steam and C:\Games\Steam for steam games - Steam actually makes it easy to change the location without having to reinstall anything. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=231 Most non steam games will have to be reinstalled. Be sure to get the base game working before trying to add anything - Mods or any other programs such as FOMM or FOSE. Then make a backup of the data folder for future troubleshooting.
wulvfen
Aha...USER Access Control! [like I said, I use Win-XP, so I don't have the initial UAC problem that's inherent with the later versions of Windows]And DAMN, I must have been REALLY tired last night, how in the **** could I have forgotten that it's " C/Games/STEAM " considering that's where my FNV is, alongside my other Steam games? Aakkk! By the by, nice mod troubleshooting blog site there bben, gonna start going there to see if any questions have been answered before I **** someone off with redundant queries about already solved issues or problems. mewfii
Well what about the UAC setting in the FOMM "SETTING" area? I have it un-checked right now...
phoneyLogic
Well what about the UAC setting in the FOMM "SETTING" area? I have it un-checked right now... You can disable it as well. But of cause it's a security feature. Without it your system might be less protected against malware, so be warned.
