ManIndaHat
Hi, this is my first 3d model that i've made so could i have some crits?http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff193/solstice_50k/Concept%20Art/fallout%203/FalconsRazor_02.jpg BTW i don't actually know how big it is\will be in-game but i'm going to assume...HUGE. What is a good bsa unpacker so i can compare it?
jaysus
i use FOMM atm for each and everything :) (regarding esp editing and bsa unpacking) do a google search for "Fallout mod manager" its on a page called timeslip.com or somin ------------ as to the model itself... well i wont judge the design as taste is different but it would help if you could post a wireframe shot or one with highlighted edges to see how you distributed polygons (whats the poly count anyway?)... i like to tell people to reduce em :D (tho it looks ok to me)
LHammonds
Most functional BSA tool right now is FO3 Archive Utility Here are some other tools related to modding: - Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) - FO3Edit - FO3Dump - ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated - GIMP - Blender - DDS Converter 2 LHammonds
Moraelin
Is that a khopesh? Nice to see some more exotic weaponry being made. As for the size, I wouldn't sweat it much. Each part of the .nif has a scale number, so regardless of how big the original is, it can be scaled to Washington Monument size, or cute little toothpick size, or anything in between, or in excess of either. Skree000
I can give a modelling critique if you can provide a render showing the wireframe. Without the wireframe showing i have a poor idea of your poly count for this model. Btw what is your poly count for this model?

Without the wireframe showing i have a poor idea of your poly count for this model. Btw what is your poly count for this model?Well, he did not use smooth so you can still get an idea of the wireframe underneath which seems fairly low-poly. The cross-guard seems to soak up the majority of the poly count and it still does not look that high based on the surface reflections (might need to click the larger image for better details) Although I understand where you are coming from...the author is asking for model critiques but not showing the wireframe or at least 3 different views (top, front, side) LHammonds
Skree000
Hard to say, look at the picture full size, the geometry is a mystery. And just because other weapons may have midrange poly counts. that doesnt mean that we should be overly liberal and waste polys that would be better saved for performance :) Almost every kind of chamfer and rounded edge can be achieved with a normal map instead of extraneous polys, so before we can accurately critique, its nice to see the detailed breakdown shots :) btw. the design of the weapon looks neat. Show us your wireframes! :) PS. is that a big 5-sided poly i see there on the hilt? hehe
ManIndaHat
sorry. i don't know the poly count but it's pretty low.http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff193/solstice_50k/Concept%20Art/fallout%203/FalconsRazor_wireframe.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff193/solstice_50k/Concept%20Art/fallout%203/FalconsRazor_wireframe_03.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff193/solstice_50k/Concept%20Art/fallout%203/FalconsRazor_wireframe_02.jpg
LHammonds
Looks like 136 vertices with a subserf layer 1 on top of it.
