Sylaniaria
Hiya! I've been struggling to find a robe I like for my new character. I'm thinking that the wedding dress could work quite well for her and its really pretty! I am able to recolour it and change its stats myself but I've been really stuck trying to remove the string that goes across the front of the chest. If anyone could help teach me how to do this I would really appreciate it! I removed a satchel from a robe before just by messing with the texture image but that doesn't seem to work here. I've tried to do things with the model but it seems far beyond my skill. Alternatively if anyone could help in making such a model I would be really thankful! If its allowed I would be happy to treat such a thing as a commission. I really want to have a nice outfit for my playthrough Edited April 19, 2020 by Sylaniaria
cumbrianlad
You can do this quite quickly! There's only one bit I'm not sure about. First open up the texture and erase the area of the texture that the string is in (at the top) so that you get the invisible texture showing. Save the texture as DXT5 with mip maps. It needs to be DXT5 because we need to make use of the alpha channel. Next, open Nifskope. (I think it must be version 2.0 or higher). ckick on the Tri-shape and edit the highlighted branch. Do this by right clicking on it then use 'Insert' and then pick 'NialphaProperty'. That will add an alpha property to the file. Then right click the new property and select 'Copy Branch' Go back into the tri-shape and expand it. You'll now see a line Alpha Property... none. right click that and 'Paste Branch'. The cord will disappear. You may need to make a new texture set pointing to your new texture in CK and set alpha to 'Testing', or else it may look fine in Nifskope but the cord may still show up in game. Hope that helps. I just tried it and got as far as making the cord disappear in Nifskope. The last bit is the bit I'm unsure about. Edit: if things still look odd in-game you may need to re-do the 'Normal Map'.... Dress_n.dds. Hopefully not.
Sylaniaria
I've been able to take the string out! Thank you!I am having a slight problem though, when the weight slider is set to its maximum the jewels on the brooches turn white?
cumbrianlad
I'd need to take a look at it in detail. I'd only be guessing about what could be causing that. Edit: what jewels? I'm not seeing any on the texture I'm looking at, just a pair of gold brooches that weirdly look as if they've got a spider on them! Never noticed that before. I wonder if it was some kind of Bethesda joke... black widow? It has the right shape of abdomen. Anyway, I don't see jewels. Is this something you added to the texture? Sylaniaria
This was entirely my error sorry! I had messed with the texture in my attempts to change this earlier and caused my own problem!
cumbrianlad
No worries! So it's sorted, then?
