Rennn
Now that I've finally beat Dark Souls, I found the first few hours of NG+ to be too easy. So, I've decided to play this playthrough with my hud turned off. This means no visible health on the player or enemies, no visible poison/bleed/etc progress, and we must navigate the hotslots and spells by memory. I'm rationalizing that this is more realistic, since in real life if you want to use an item without stopping to search for it, you have to remember where it is on your person. And presumably, you would need to remember how to cast specific spells, if they existed in real life. In much the same way, it's now necessary to remember hotslots and spells. Similarly, you can't feel or see how close you are to catching a disease in real life. You only see risky situations and notice after it has already occurred. I've also created a simple hud mod to remove the aiming reticule from bows. I'll be aiming instinctively. This should also help to eliminate some of the bow exploits that I used on playthrough one, particularly against the undead dragons. The only issue is that normally in real life, a person is capable of feeling how badly they're injured. I think this balances out quite well against Estus Flasks, since in real life you can't drink from a flask and be instantly healed. I've been playing like this for a few hours now. It's really not so bad. There's a terrible feeling of vulnerability and paranoia, but I felt that the first time I played a Souls game as well!
