FalloutSaurus
Can anybody help with idea? How to implement explosion resistance for armors (Fallout New Vegas)? Maybe I´m just blind, can´t find it in GECK...Or can I create one? Thought it will be suitable for Power Armors... Any hints? GamerRick
I don't think there is any way to make damage resistance dependent on what hits you. There are no conditions you can put on the weapon used or the type of damage you received. The only way would have been to give grenades their own "Resist" type that could then be manipulated, but they (Beth and Obsidion) didn't do that. So, explosive damage (other than fire or energy) can't be dynamically modified separately from other items that just rely on Damage Resistance. EDIT: What is EMPResist? According to this page: EMPResist - 0-100, treated as a percentage (unused but active). Could you use an unused resist type? If you put it on the WeapGrenadeFrag (for example) would it work, or would it need to be on the Explosion form (which has no Resist option)? FalloutSaurus
Hmm, I was afraid of that...I was thinkin that Power Armor should protect you from "small" explosions like hand grenades (in old Fallouts even from rocket launcher -sometimes- but I feel it overpowered for New Vegas).Only what I found was that EMP resistance you mentioned. I wanted more like explosion form list, explosion resistance at general... Cause franky, you donť find much use for EMP resistance in game. But maybe to apply it on grenade as you said ... and do makearound for it somehow... could work? Thanks for reply, much appreceated Edited April 22, 2020 by FalloutSaurus
dubiousintent
I do not have any particular insights into the developer's thinking, but EMPResist sounds to me like "ElectroMagnetic Pulse Resistance" or "DR for Robots" against "electronic jamming/pulse" type weapons. So I suspect it is actually used but only by those types of creatures. "Explosion" damage is probably supposed to be "concussion/shock wave" damage. Realistically, armor alone isn't going to help with that. You would just rattle around inside your power armor, bashing yourself against the sides in addition to the compression damage from the shock wave. This "concussion" is the principle behind the "stun grenade". Only an anchored (or heavy enough to simulate that "immovable") structure can dissipate the shock wave into the ground before it reaches your body is going to offer any kind of protection. -Dubious-
GamerRick
I found some. The weapons that have 'TestlaCannon' in their names (like WeapTeslaCannon) are set to EMPResist. It's used after-all.
FalloutSaurus
Allright guys, thanks for help anyway. Dubious: I agree how you described explosion/ concusion damage. Power armor doesn´t protect you against shock wave, but could protect you against FRAGMENTS- physsical parts of grenade flying to all sides (FRAG grenade),right? That was my point. If it´s possible to make particullar resistance to that damage. But suddenly, there is nothing like that...aaaah! Pitty
