Recover from a Fatal Error

I was trying to clean up MO2 to get rid of some junk, mods that were bugged or that I no longer wanted. I didn't know the right way to do that. I do now thanks to a lot of help I got from Al12rs.

The first mod I tried to get rid of was Heljarchen Farm. I made a fatal mistake of doing a search of my computer for all references to Heljarchen Farm and I then deleted them, some 70 references. That took care of getting that mod off of MO2 but it gave me an even bigger problem. Every time I try to start my game now it crashes. If I try to start a new play through it immediately crashes. I reinstalled that mod, but the game still crashes. I finally got my LOOT detector to work, but it doesn't tell me anything. I fixed the one problem it pointed out but that didn't solve my crashing problem. I've tried everything I can think of to try and recover from that fatal error but nothing has worked.

I'm at the point where I think I need to scrap everything and start all over again from scratch, reinstall the game, all of my mods, reinstall MO2 etc. That's a lot of work and it will take a lot of time.

I would appreciate any suggestions for an easier route to take. I'm familiar with Xbox. When you uninstall a game on Xbox everything goes away: your mods, your play throughs everything connected to the game. On the PC is there any way to save some of those things before uninstalling?
