Random Inventory CTD's level 79

Hi guys and girls,

 

I need a bit of help with some random CTD's I've been having lately when I equip or unequip items from Inventory - PC inventory or Follower inverntory.

 

I do have a lot of custom items mods, mostly armors and weapons, but I haven't added any new one for a very long time and the CTDs are very recent. Accessing inventory works fine, I only CTD when equiping or unequiping items - and it does not seem to be related to any particular item either, Vanilla or modded. I thought some RefID's might have been messed up, uninstalled some mods which might be outdated, but that makes no difference.

 

It seems to happen completely randomly, often starts in interior cells, Vanilla Breezehome or Riverside Lodge mod, the 2 houses where I store most of my stuff and being level 79 I do have a lot of it - and once it's started, it keeps on crashing and the only solution I found so far is to reload an older save - which keeps me indefinitely stuck at level 79!... argh!... :wallbash:

 

I read somewhere that Skyrim has a limit to the number of items an interior cell can load (iLargeIntRefCount) and I was wondering if there was such a limitation to inventory, maybe? Although, my inventory is not much larger now than it was 10 levels ago (I do not use any God mod and the average amount of stuff I carry is seldom heavier than 400). I also tried to reload much older saves, but it invariably happens again: as soon as I pass level 79, at some point my inventory will CTD!..

 

I just cannot think of anything in particular that I might have done to my game that could have triggered these CTD's - other than the fact that a few weeks ago, Steam automatically updated what they refer to as "game content" (I figured Workshop mods, but I have unsubbed from these months ago), and I've had enough trouble with Steam before as to be VERY suspicious of their damn updates!.. I play offline all the time, but I had to go online to update to patch 1.8.

 

My config: Windows 7, 64 bits, 4 i7cores + 4 virtual i7 cores, RAM 6Go, CPU nVidia GeForce GT 230, 1.5 Go VRAM, fully licenced Skyrim copy of course, updated to patch 1.8, and my saves rank between 12 Mo and 13 Mo. No add-on, and no HD nor ENB for my outdated CPU.

 

I just can't figure out what's going on, but this is getting VERY frustrating as it keeps me from leveling up!..

 

So questions, questions...

 

- has any of you had inventory CTD's before? Have you found a solution to them?

 

- is there a game limit to inventory size?

 

- a limit perhaps to the number (or file size) of modded items we can add to the game?

 

- did patch 1.8 change anything to Items RefID's maybe?

 

- or uh... any other advice? idea? hint?..
