Lichdom

it takes a while to decompose.

It depends on the variables, but a body can decompose to bare bones in less than a month if in an damp oxygen rich environment (Skyrim seems pretty damp if you ask me) even faster if it's warm.

The draugr don't decay down to bones because they were embalmed. As a lich you don't get embalmed, so i see no reason why in a rodent, bacteria and all kinds of insect infested cave or wherever you decide to turn into a lich you would NOT wake up after some time (i assume when you turn into a lich you don't get instantly turned into one) as a skeleton.

What I would love is if this can add lich perk tree without touching any perk trees. Hopefully something like the werewolf/vampire perk trees.

I know that's hard if not impossible to implement at the moment...

Maybe you have something completely different already planned but what you think of a perk tree with the top perk being the "full" lich state granting you the free ticket back. Upon death you will loose the perks (I know nothing simmilar happening on other perk trees) Repairing the phylactery would consist in adding back the perks up to the final one. If (something looking like) a perk tree (a flash interface in the end) could be opened when activating the phylactery it would be great.

For the lich there won't be such a tiered progression.

However, for the Ancient Lich (which won't be until Lichdom 2.0 at least, so don't get too excited just yet) I am expecting to do an almost perk-like system of progression. Kind of a hybrid perk/doomstone thing, where the lich can choose one of several different "paths" to unlock, being able to unlock more abilities and boosts as it progresses; at any time the lich can change to a different path, but all progress on the former path is immediately lost.

These paths will gear the lich toward specific builds, e.g. one path might sacrifice some magical power to cancel out melee-related penalties and eventually gain bonuses, for the warrior-type liches; another could be stealth-centric, for thief-type liches; still another could focus on boosting Illusion, or Conjuration, etc.

Again, though, this is well down the road, and the initial release of Lichdom isn't going to have anything even remotely like this. Sorry.

I was thinking (moving on from the topic of maybe later version lich forms.....I only hope :)) about the phylactery..wouldn't it be much more..ehm...interesting...if the player could choose a rare item or artifact (ie. staves, tortsen or reareks skulls, jewelry, etc) that they would want as their "phylactery" I mean 1 single widely used phylactery...is well..a bit boring...I mean wouldn't it be cooler if you could CHOOSE your phylactery? maybe you could list the possible phylacteries? (if you think this is an idea worth taking?) just a suggestion :)

VOODOO

No really, that would be cool, if you could maybe "Augment" any item in the lunar forge or whatever into a phylactery while retaining the items previous look

What if... The Lunar forge upon activation would open like a pop-up where you can choose either "Smithing" or "Make a phylactery" and then it opens up like a Enchanter table and you can enchant (but only with "Phylactery" enchantment) the item like any other Edited by skulleris

Kromey, what'cha say, is it somewhat "required" that the phylactery is apparel item?

Also, if it'd be, it's possible to make it so that you take item, take it to forge, and craft the misc item into "apparel". (Item that can be equipped, but has no visual presentation)

However, it'd be somewhat" preset" what could be used.

(Regular crafting recipe)

Also, have you seen:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8361

It adds tons of different amulets and rings. Especially glass necklace would be somewhat "stereotypical" phylactery, but I don't know if the author of that mod is allowing people to use parts of his mod on other mods.

Hm, interesting. Your phylactery could be an amulet, or a staff, or dang near anything you can carry on your person...

This would make all the scripts a lot more complex, as well as I'd need crafting recipes for a bunch of different types (part of the whole thing is you have to make your phylactery yourself, as the crafting process itself begins to tune it to your soul). But it would be pretty neat, I agree... I'd probably restrict it to items you can actually wear or wield, though, as one of the (unlisted) penalties of being a lich is that you cannot remove your phylactery -- not merely being unable to drop it on the ground, but you can't take it off to don a different amulet. (I am thinking about lifting that restriction later, and instead giving you a bonus while wearing it to encourage that; maybe that's when I'll explore alternative phylacteries (and if you choose one you can't wear, well, you won't be able to get the bonus...).)

I'll consider this for version 1.1; right now I'm getting so close to having a release ready that I don't want to suddenly change course at the moment.

Still trying to come up with Destruction and Conjuration(undead) boosts to replace the old +50 to the skills:

For Destruction, I think I'm going with the power that increases spell magnitude by 50%, but also increases spell cost by 20%; this effect would last for 60 seconds (and I need to figure out how to give it a cool-down so it can only be used every, I dunno, 5 minutes or so).

For Conjuration(undead), two boosts:

A version of Dead Thrall that works on non-NPCs, just like the other resurrection spells.

Zombies raised by the lich do 50% more attack damage.

Thoughts on these?

Sounds good.

The buff to destruction could get a bit crazy with the Dragonborn DLC though - the new priest masks each give more damage to one of the elements of destruction (50% I think?). Having said that, the destruction spells sorely need a buff IMO as it's the only method of offence that isn't really improved with a higher skill.
