EvilDeadAsh34
I recently had to re-install Fallout 3 and New Vegas and something very odd and annoying is happening. During the intro movies the video freezes and the audio stutters, then about 3-5 seconds of it being frozen the video continues on. The weirdest thing is there a rectangle of video in the upper left-hand corner that starts before the rest of the screen catches up. (see below) |______|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||______|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| This is my crude way of showing where the video starts before the rest of the screen catches up. The upper left corner starts before the rest after the freeze happens. I never had this problem before in my previous installs and i'm very curious as to why it's happening. Anyone know what could be happening? Edited December 24, 2012 by EvilDeadAsh34
prensa
EvilDeadAsh34 - Hello! That strange description of the Bink video messing up rang a bell, I read something about it here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1987159 They list an almost identical description to yours & a few possible fixes that have worked for some. Some managed to fix it by running Catalyst or another small program in the backgound during Fallout 3, among other fixes. Hope this helps! That does indeed sound identical to my problem and hopefully i'll find a workable fix in there. Edit: I tried 2 of the suggestions and both worked. I played a video in the background and the intro video played perfectly. I also disabled crossfire the 2nd time and the video also played perfectly. Crossfire is the definite difference in my system from when i play FO3 and NV the first time. Oh well, like i said thanks for the info and i'm sure i'll fix it now. Thanks.
