Modding help for a newbie

Ok, I’ll get right to the point… I’m new when it comes to modding FO4 unlike minecraft or for Steam games which are relatively easy modding wise (for me anyway). FO4 on the other hand you need mods in order to make other mods even work. I have the 6 baseline mods you need in order to make many of the other ones work (Fallout 4 Script Extender, Mod Configuration Menu, Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource, Armorsmith Extended & Valdacil's Item Sorting) but I’m still getting “straight to desktop crashes” whenever I try to trade with a companion or store my extra junk in a chest, suitcase, desk, ect. I have just under the 255 mod limit for NMM (235 active) an I’m not sure if it’s due to some conflict between 2 of em or if some of the older ones I’m using are causing it and need a patch to fix but I rly could use some help. I’ve been at it for a week now an I’m starting to hit my limit.

EDIT: my mod list

1: the game runs stable up until I either try and trade with a companion or store my extra junk in a chest, suitcase, desk, ect then it "straight to desktop crashes"

2: I started a new game with all the mods I had listed active

3: still troubleshooting, disabling mods and seeing what works since I 1st posted this

I've been using Vortex/Nexus, why two names? for months or longer. I have learned very little or just enough to get in trouble and start having Fallout 4 just DUMP

right out of my computers memory which shouldn't be happening, but does. Why it shouldn't? I follow the modders instructions as best I can with my limited

knowledge of this very confusing interface. I got to the point where following the modders instructions I install the mod, if I have and issue after installing the mod

I remove the mod and move on to another mod. I have tried troubleshooting a mod that has issues when the modders instructions clearly state there are no

REQUIREMENTS. It's just to irritating and time consuming. I end up spending hours trying to get a mod to work that should just work according to the mod creator.

I enjoy the 140 or so mods that have been working in Fallout 4, but I don't enjoy having my game dump out of memory recently, often and randomly.

I recently validated the Fallout 4 files on steam and the validation found a corrupt or altered file and restored it to the original file.

I'm hoping that was the reason Fallout 4 was dumping from memory, but unfortunately that's not the only reason.

I'm not a modder, I'm not interested in creating mods or troubleshooting the mods I install according to the modders instructions.

I'd like to suggest that Nexus and or Vortex tighten the modders requirements when publishing mods here.

If a modder says there are no REQUIREMENTS then there should be absolutely NO requirements what so ever.

Example: Diamond City mod.

I installed it, went to Diamond City and it was all messed up, clipping, stuff appearing and disappearing, WHY?

I followed the modders instructions. I reluctantly spent time searching for WHY? and it took a lot of time.

I found ONE, just one of many comments in the author posts telling just one person the solution, this solution

should have been suggested in the authors description and files download areas because it's a REQUIREMENT.

suggest to, "Move the mod lower in the mod list", was the solution.

It would really help everyone get more enjoyment from Nexus/Vortex listed mods if the authors instructions were complete.

I've had to remove more then a dozen mods that I wanted to use in Fallout 4 because they simply just didn't work as

advertised, the mod conflicts with other mods or mod files are duplicates or a mod needs to be loaded before or after

another mods. Using the "Manage files" and selecting "suggested" doesn't work 95% of the time.

I do enjoy the mods! Thank You very much MOD Authors and Vortex/Nexus.

Mike
