gsmanners
This has game seriously regressed since May of this year. When I reinstalled Windows, I installed the 196 nvidia driver, and now Skyrim can't even render anything properly. It actually relies on driver hacks (in post 196 drivers) to render anything properly. It's no wonder it trashes the system. I have Dragon Age Origins installed, and that of course works just fine (with just the usual cosmetic problems here and there). I can play that for hours at a time. I then go to play Skyrim for a few minutes, and it renders a lot of garbage on top of the video. It's just an unplayable mess. I then quit and fire up DAO, but then that too crashes. I reboot, and then DAO plays fine again. Once again, I can play DAO for hours, no problem. Brilliant, no? Skyrim is such an unstable game that it destabilizes other games. If I play Skyrim for too long, it inevitably corrupts my system, forcing me to reinstall. Sheesh. Anyone have any idea what's up with this? I mean, I've eliminated the video driver as the cause. I'm not even sure there is a way to work around this. I'm ready to give up, at this point (unless we can all agree on reverting to 1.4 or 1.5 which didn't corrupt the system). EDIT: Seeing how no one can work around this, I'm just going to assume that this is yet another issue that Bethesda considers a low priority. As such, I'm done with Bethesda and their defective products. Edited December 27, 2012 by gsmanners
