Deleted1308005User
Okay, I'll get straight to the point and try to throw some ideas/requests for Creatures. Mainly, I'd like to see some old creatures return. (Creatures seen in older TES titles, now forgotten)Also, if you've seen mod which adds the said creature, feel free to point it out.I'd say these don't need to be perfect. Just something "valid-like" will be perfectly.. Valid. :armscrossed: Ogres, "Large and powerful beasts with cannibalistic tendencies, Ogres are a daunting opponent in singular combat and a major threat in large numbers. It is best to fight them one at a time, or you may very well be quickly overwhelmed. Despite their strength, they are sluggish and are quite easy to outrun and out-maneuver."In Oblivion, you could find ogres near Skyrim border, but still those got scrapped off from Skyrim. Sadly. Quite similar to Troll (stat-wise), but otherwise a bit similar to Giants. (Except a lot smaller)Maybe a bit more.. fat giant variant with different skin tone, no beard, hair and such? And a bit smaller of Course.http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ogre Mountain Lion, are dangerous predators that can be found throughout Cyrodiil.Even if those can be found in Cyrodiil, I think it'd be nice to see some in Skyrim. Only difference to Saber Cat would be.. Well, lack of Saber Teeth. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Mountain_Lion Unicorn, No, I don't mean anything fancy shiny rainbow thing. A real thing, complete with horn, immunity to damage (Except silver, but might be hard to make)This would be really nice for all hunters, similar to "White Stag". Goblins, I think I'll just wait 'til "Dragonborn" is out for these. Really easy to make. Just some new color on the Rieklings skin, make a new creature and add it to random rat lists! (That's how I'd love to see them being added) There could be several variants, some armed with poisoned weapons, really deadly. (Hunters), and some just.. well, replacements for Skeevers and as fragile as well. (Lone goblin, dead goblin. Minus the hunter one. It should be deadly.) There could also be "Shaman" variants and many others. (Just gotta wait for Dragonborn to be sure what's possible and so)http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Goblin Also, boars seem to be added by Dragonborn, though someone has to add them to normal leveled lists as well  Werebears, Just to be added into Skyrim as well. Imp, maybe remake Vampire Lord, make it much smaller, (probably needs some mesh-edits to make it "valid") I don't know how AI handles VL spell usage, but these could be armed with some different spells.http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Imp_(Oblivion) Scamp, these things were really annoying if I remember correctly. Usually there was 2-4 of these + a daedroth when you went inside Plane of Oblivion.Maybe edit Falmer a bit, add some fur on it and make new/ edit textures so it'd be a bit similar?http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Scamp Daedroth, the big fat lizard mentioned above. Hard to kill, big damage, resistant to fire.. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Daedroth_(Oblivion) Also, much more undeads.Ghosts, wraiths, zombies, licheshttp://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Wraithhttp://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Zombiehttp://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ghost"Armored Skeletons" does great work with increasing variety/diversity among undead ranks, but it doesn't add much ghost/wraith- like creatures. And that's not all! In addition to that, it would be really nice to see some actual diversity among the creatures.Wolves with different colors and which carry different diseases. Different races of goblins with different:- Weapons- Skin Color- Poisons- Spells, and some wouldn't carry any. Different Ogres with different Strengths and weaknesses Ghosts that take damage only from silver weapons, and wraiths that are highly resistant but not immune. Skeever species that inflicts more than one disease type on hit. And all of these with respective colors and so on. (Blue goblin = resistant to frost, red/brown = fire, Green = "basic" goblin) And so on.Imagination and some sort of logical sense is the limit  Ideas and suggestions!Personally I think there's too few "monster mods" to choose from. (That actually put something new in-game)
AnubisRaven
The Skyrim Monster Mod, while no longer available on nexus, adds Ogres, Scamps, and Daedroth, but isn't the most lore-friendly, as it comes with a lot of creatures ripped from other sources (a triceratops, the witcher 2 creatures, etc) I would like to see an "Oblivion creatures in Skyrim" mod, but I'm guessing there really isn't that much interest. Interesting thought though, since Skyrim's engine is very, very similar to Oblivion's, wouldn't it be possible to take Oblivion assets and insert them into Skyrim? I'm terribly ignorant at this sort of thing, but if the same can be done with The Witcher 2 assets, I imagine it's possible with Skyrim and Oblivion, perhaps that's a way your mod could be done. Alithinos
I know where you are coming from. Me too thinks there is such a little variety in Skyrim regarding creatures. Thankfully I got Dawnguard the other day,and it added new creatures, which was MY favorite aspect of that DLC.I just got bored killing Falmer,Bandits,Draugr and Spiders, again and again. Since nobody was making mods that added lore friendly creatures I decided to start some projects on my one,but unfortunately I got stuck. I thought of bringing the humanoid races, because it would be easy to just use the skeletons and animations of existing playable races to the new creature/races. And it worked, but there is something I doing wrong because the face texture doesn't appear as it should inside the game, while it appears correct on the Creation Kit! I asked for help in these forums but I didn't even got a single answer. Help Thread I was going to add Nymphs, (Daggerfall) Dark Seducers, (Shivering Isles) and Golden Saints (Shivering Isles). I made the part where you give them stats and what armor and weapons to have right. I also made them have the appropriate eye color and skin tint in the CK,and I placed them in the world of Skyrim, and they do show up. But when they show up inside the game, their face has the standard, default pale human skin texture, while the rest of their bodies the appropriate tints! I don't know why specifically their heads have different color inside the game, and not the one I chose in the CK. @AnubisRaven: I tried this mod but didn't liked and turned it off after a few minutes. My dislikes where the following: 1) Makes creatures appear way more often. I just want to meet new creatures, not to fight every 5 minutes.2) It had many enemies from other games, but the enemies didn't had their original names.3) Except that the creatures from other games doesn't fit the lore of The Elder Scrolls, they are also made to not fit the lore of their origin games, because they don't have the attributes and powers or habits they normally have in their own games. After I installed this mod I met a Pseudogiant from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series walking outside of Whiterun. Take a look at this beast: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/images/932262-1300276735.jpg (In STALKER) These abominations are 2 meters (7 feet) tall and weight 500 kilos (around 1000 pounds), and it's all pure muscle. When they walk the ground shakes, and it takes like 5 AK47 magazines to die. They usually reside on deserted remote locations, like in deep underground abandoned bases,or far in the forest away from any village or town.It likes hiding in the dark and getting out of nowhere to surprise you. When you meet one you know you have to either run away as fast as you can,or get on high ground so it can't reach you,and make sure you have LOTS of ammo, because each attack with its hands takes off half of your life, and it takes way too many hits to die. You could say it's a boss creature, something that you rarely meet, and when you do you know you are screwed!! Now imagine my shock and awe when I met that thing in Skyrim. It appeared just outside of a Major City in broad daylight, and NPCs seemed to ignore it. Ideally they would have the same reactions as they have for dragons,if they encountered that beast.Full with desperation I decided to make a suicide attack and try to kill it,and I found out it died with a few hits, easier than the average bandit. It just spoiled the creature for me,and I turned that mod off. Edited December 27, 2012 by Alithinos
Deleted1308005User
Aye, Also the quality of SkyMoMod creatures wasn't always that good.Author should have "polished" the creatures a bit more, to make them look like they'd fit into Skyrim. It's not important for creature to be 100% lore-friendly, as far the creature looks like it would fit into Skyrim, it's fine.Problem with many SkyMoMod monsters is that some creatures had weird holes on them, unnatural shapes and so on.. (Mostly unnatural shapes)And textures could have been better. Some Witcher assets are actually quite nice, if they're edited a bit.For example, nekker is quite similar to "Hunger" seen in older TES games. And the Troll of Witcher 2 would perfectly fit into skyrim, if it would be rigged to just about anything else than Werewolf. I don't want to see someone as clumsy-looking and bulky jumping like agile wolf. And that's one more problem with SkyMoMod. Too many creatures were rigged to werewolf body. :ohdear: I think I could try to do the "Diversity" part myself. So that there'd be "new" skeevers, clean skin, a bit tougher, and other variants which carry different diseases.Same for wolves. Different skins, strengths and weaknesses.I need to inspect lore a bit and check what sort of creatures there was in past games. If I can't find any "restrictions", I use my imagination and common sense as the limit
FathomsDeep
General species diversity would help, beyond just whole new classes of creatures- SPIDERS! Seriously ONE kind of spider in all of Skyrim? That's just crazy talk. Crabs, too. Interestingly, they include like four kinds of deer, and all the hides are supposedly different according to Hearthfire, but they're all still called deer hides. What that.. Wait. The developers are on skooma, right? Many modders have tackled the dragons... but I'd love to see more bugs, more animals, more FISH....

Goblins shown in Game jam ended up into Dragonborn as "Rieklings", but little edits it's possible to make them to be goblin-like. I was working on a mod related to "General diversity", but nobody showed interest on that. Idea is/was/would have been that there'd be different types of some creatures. Swamp Trolls, Rats that carry every disease, healthy rat that doesn't carry anything but is more durable, black wolf, mountain lion, striped sabrecats (white and brown) were something I already did.I think I had also non-frostbitten spider there.. Oh, and ancient trolls!
