blove
Do you have dual monitors? My old 5870 used to flicker the monitors when the memory frequency changed when changing power states.

blove
Youch. Verify your PCI-E power connectors are fully seated. Reseat your GPU. Remove your GPU, boot completely to your desktop, shutdown, and reinstall your GPU. Kick it, once.

hoofhearted4
well good news and bad news. good news. something happened and my GPU is working again bad news is i had just paid for an RMA ($15 return shipping) i have 14 days to RMA (well the number expires in 14 days. not sure if i have 14 days to send it or they have to receive it within 14 days...anyone familiar with this process that can enlighten me?) so i figure ill see how it works in that time. if it doesnt do it again, then im down $15 but i guess thats whatever. if it does it again in that time, then i can just go ahead and RMA it. now im not sure if i wanna leave it alone, or continue to mess with the settings :P EDIT: deciding not to continue messing with it as i feel like its fruitless. any sort of tweak i do not in the CCC results in crashing. however i still keep getting the issue of my GPU randomly not working. screen going to Power Saver mode. i checked my PC settings, its set to Never go to sleep or hibernate. if it continues to do this at the 1010mhz/1465mhz settings which i thought were stable, then maybe i will put them back at default clocks and see if the problem continues. if yes in either case then RMA it is. $300 for a card and i should be able to OC it at least a little bit without issues. :P EDIT EDIT: thought i was gunna be fine. ran Unigine for over a half an hour. ran a 15 minute FurMark Burn. no problems. screen didnt shut off or anything. then once that was all done, i go online and 30 seconds later, monitor goes into Power Save Mode and junk. a hard reboot seemed to solve the issue, but 3 times in a row i would get to my desktop after hard rebooting and before i could even click on anything, Monitor would shut down. or rather the GPU would. now the thing is, i would open my case and the fans on the GPU would be running, but the PC couldnt detect it. so once again i reseated it thinking that would solve it. but it didnt. got to my desktop, managed to get to facebook for about 5 minutes, then bam, black screen. i think this GPU was determined from the start to give me a bad experience for my first GPU ever. but RMA it i shall. hopefully the next one i get can OC! but at this point i just take a working one period. Thor.
To bad your having flickering issues, I overclocked it a bit, but lately with my new amd 8350 i reverted back to the default oc settings and i didn't notice much of a fps drop at all. Its mainly the cpu what causes bottlenecks to begin with as i found out. All i have to say, if ain't broke don't try to add things to it that might brake it http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif Edited December 28, 2012 by Thor. kalikka
I would avoid using furmark. Its just heat, it really doesnt tell if your GPU is stable.Basically BF3/similar heavy game is the best for checking stability. What I did:1. Run unigine for 1 full round.2. If its stable, run 3dmark11 1-2 times. Check for artifacts.3. If its still stable, run a heavy game. BF3 usually crashes in 30mins if the CPU or GPU clocks arent stable. Remember to use GPU-Z or HWiNFO to monitor VRM and core temperatures.
hoofhearted4
well i RMAed it anyways. i dont have BF3, but i have plenty of other games like Crysis and Metro 2033 and Batman and Total War i can stress test it with. yea. i was using 3DMark 11 both Performance and Xtreme. Unigine on completely maxed out settings for 30 minutes, and the Benchmark, and the 15 minute FurMark Burn.
Dan3345
I think unigine is the best for checking stability. You can run it constantly on full settings which is how I stress check my GPU. Hoof it sucks you had to RMA, but I remember a program called radeonpro which was an aftermarket version of CCC. I think it may have helped.. Though if memory servers it only optimized games.
