ReXspec
Don't get me wrong: Some of the music in MW5 is good. The subdued guitar of "Threshold," the searing synth riffs of "A Second Life" and "Outlier," the interesting hybrid choir/guitar of "Judgement and Retribution," the symphonic orchestral hybrid sounds of "The Gamble," and the rythmic guitar riffs of "Crucible" are all good stuff but the rest just feels like filler to me; pretty "bare bones," imho. So, the next question I asked myself was, "Well, if the current music doesn't do MW5 justice, what does?"Within a few moments I found my answer (along with some rather fond memories that were invoked from listening to the old mechwarrior soundstracks, and the artists that re-mastered/remixed them): Timothy. Seals. He did outstanding remixes of old MW2 soundtracks. They capture the feel of the old songs, but he puts an interesting twist on them in the form of revamped audio from the old games, or making new sounds of his own entirely. Here is a list of most of his Mechwarrior songs. The first two in the list have a thumbnail. Credit goes to this artist for the video thumbnails: https://www.deviantart.com/shimmering-sword https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEVb_HQuxQAAnd the full album EP mix for good measure:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_smBV2YBtkIf anyone can make a mod that incorporates these soundstracks into the BGM, or can give some sort of instructions on how to incorporate these songs into MW5's BGM library, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure other die-hard fans of the older Mechwarrior/Battletech games would appreciate it too. lolOf course, all relevant parties should be asked about the use of the audio/artwork before releasing it as a mod (can never be too careful, right? lol). All credit goes to the appropriate parties for the audio, remixes, and artwork. Edited May 8, 2020 by ReXspec

I imagine the use of his music in a mod file is acceptable as long as no money is being made from the mod and/or the modder is not claiming Timothy's work as his/her own. I sent Timothy a message regarding this issue for courtesy's sake. I'm fairly certain this is the case, though. ReXspec
Just got the word from the man himself:He said he is fine with modders using his music and he looks forward to seeing it! :D Edited May 14, 2020 by ReXspec
LordMaron
Necro for interest. I know a couple of other music replacement mods used to exist before the Steam release update broke them all, so I know it's possible! I'd even do it myself if I knew how. As it is, I often turn MW5's music off and open up the MW2 soundtracks or Timothy's remixes in the background.
