charwo
I'm having a time with Veronica's 'I could make you care' quest. Now, if I were asking how it could be fixed I'd be posting the question in tech support. I know how to fix it: I need to activate the quest. I don't know the console command. I know the quest number and all, but I need the 'start quest' command. The set stage command isn't working. I did this before with Tenpenny Tower in Fallout 3, but I can't find the console command to do it. Could someone tell me what it is?
phoneyLogic
StartQuest is the function you'd need to start a quest. But I'm afraid this function isn't working on the console. You'd need to create a plugin and start the quest via script. Edited December 28, 2012 by tortured Tomato
charwo
How do I do that? Cause frankly I have a bunch of companion quests that won't active: I could make you care, lily and leo, Aud lang syne (which I've done everything to activate early) and screw it, I want to activate them all at once and spare me the damn drama. Except, that I don't want to miss the conversations that activate them. Completing Lily and Leo is anticlimactic is you don't hear that recording that kicks it off, or if you don't her Veronica give her 'I need to go home' speech. charwo
I did some cursory checking, all of the tutorials are about scripting new quests. I need to know how to start an old quest. Or better yet, with I could make you care, the way to wipe the triggers clean, so I could go to McCarran, Cottonwood, and Vault 3, and just have it activate like regular. A script command to do that would be even better as doing anything in GECK is a pain in the ass.
charwo
Is there a way to clear the initiating scripts. I think what I did here was told her I wouldn't go to Hidden Valley just yet, she left to go there on her own but I stopped her. I though I could make you care had started but it didn't. If I can clear the initiation scripts again, I can redo them and finally start this crap. Conversely, if resetting the quest automatically did that, then I'm fine. I think. I just need to know. phoneyLogic
Its not only to start a quest. The quests in New Vegas are quite complex / nested as well. The player are supposed to meet a lot of conditions so there usually are a bunch of variables and conditions to be set in various quest and object scripts all over the place. If a player messes around with the console, he or she will most likely screw up certain quests sooner or later. And the game is not designed to accomplish all quests in one play through. At least they made it difficult and they implemented a lot of optional pathways. As for your quest, it is VMS49 I believe? This quest is supposed to be started by taking veronica as companion. Then you'll need to walk around with her a while and to pass certain triggers, like meeting / talking this person, visiting certain places and so on. If you miss those triggers, the quest will not proceed. If Veronica died or if she quits because of the players actions, she will say so and leave. The quest will marked as failed. There's no command to reset all conditions, variables, trigger which already have been set. You would need to work through loads of scripts, finding these variables and setting them to the number, they are supposed to. This requires a lot of work and understanding complex script structures which depend on each other. Work and joy may not stand in a reasonable relation if you want to do this. If she quit your company, this is the usual way the quest is supposed to fail. Edited January 6, 2013 by tortured Tomato
charwo
The quest didn't fail. It apparently didn't show. Now, I reset the quest, and Veronica started commenting on triggers she hadn't already done. However, on the third one, she entered dialogue but it was generic, and not triggering the quest line (asking to go home). As for the quest itself, I have no idea whatsoever of what you speak. I only know the baseid: 00145f85. As far as modding goes, I'm only up to designing recipes. Scripting make no sense to me.
