I reckon if a mod should close this thread they should do so with the explanation that the Thalmor have closed this for heretical reasons and such...

Also FOR THE EMPIRE!

I'm.... Not entirely sure if this is serious or not... However, ideology never gets anyone anywhere, and you have to accept compromise in everything you do. Stormcloak ideology is going to creat a much less pleasent world than Imperial compromise, so i'd take my lot with the Legion any day.

Then again, i like Empires. They stimulate territorial economies, hemogenise political systems standardize law and drive civilization. Their execution is, of course, painted off-red, but capitalism and democracy aren't much cleaner. At least with an Empire, i know where to stand from year to year.

There's only one Jarl on the Stormcloak side who is reasonable and one Jarl on the Imperial side who is a complete idiot.

Met Mede II, he was pretty chill, met Ulfric, he was a bit of an ass.

Think I'll stick with the Empire.

Also I bet in Elder Scrolls VI lore will be the Dragonborn becomes the new Emperor/Empress by right of dragonblood (either usurps Mede or cuts Ulfric down in a traditional challenge) and leads the war against the Dominion, so it doesn't matter who we support in the end

This empire needs to die before there will be another empire worthy of supporting - as this empire is a joke. Any sane person would realize that the two member nations you don't want to alienate in the empire are Hammerfell and Skyrim, and they did both in one fell swoop. They make (made) up the vast majority of the Imperial strength.

Is killing the Emperor enough?

Is there a natural leader ready to right the wrongs of the previous regime?

Haven't seen him, and waiting for one to come along really isn't an option.

The legion isn't a group of racial supremacists. The Thalmor and Stormcloaks are. Somehow, the Stormcloaks got it in their heads that the Empire was the reason they couldn't worship Talos, when it's the Thalmor instead, who the Empire is at an unsteady truce with. If the Stormcloaks and the Empire stopped the war (which was basically just a Thalmor plot to weaken Skyrim, and thus, the Empire) and started up a war with the Thalmor, then it would be better.

I think it would be cool to see a DLC that offers you a third option for the Civil War quest line, but only after the main story. Create your own faction. It seems to me that the Empire is a bit overdue for a new dragonborn emperor.

The Empire was the reason they couldn't openly worship Talos, because it was the Empire that negotiated that right away from the people. Hammerfell chose to keep fighting, the Empire chose to basically surrender.

People seem to forget that the heirarchy of the Stormcloak leadership were legion soldiers in the Great War - doing the grunt work. Their rebellious roots were sewn by the Empire quitting and making all their sacrifices basically for nothing.
