Leppy0014
Hi everyone. I have been struggling with a crash to my desktop that has been frustratingly consistent. I believe that the culprit is one of the mods that I am using, but after some extensive testing, the culprit seems to keep changing hands. I keep CTDing during Alduin's SECOND Fire Shout...when he lands in the street and Hadvar motions for the child to get away from the dragon. Sometimes the CTD occurs as soon as the fire begins spewing out of his mouth, but sometimes it takes an additional 2 to 3 seconds for the CTD to occur. Whether I am looking straight at Alduin or straight down at the ground, a CTD occurs. I don't receive any additional pop-ups or window's error messages. I have been trying to activate several dozen mods through the Nexus Mod Manager, and I am fairly certain that the crashes are resulting from conflicting mods, because I do not get the CTDs if I deactivate every one of my mods through the NMM (not including the main plugins and 2 HighResTexturePack esp's). I have the most recent version of Skyrim (auto-updated through Steam) along with both the Dawnguard and Hearthfire expansions, I only use the Nexus Mod Manager to utilize mods that I have downloaded from skyrim.nexusmods.com, and I am not using any ENB. The Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files (under MyGames/Skyrim) are currently in their default states, and I have a rig that I am certain can handle the extra load from using these few mods.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________Currently, this is my active NMM mod list that is still causing my game to CTD during Alduin's second fire shout: Birds and Flocks - Hearthfire EditionBirds of Skyrim - Birds of Skyrim 065_BSA archiveBrawl Bugs Patch - Plugins - Modder Resource - Brawl Bugs - Compatibility EditionBurn Freeze Shock Effects - BFS Effects 3_3 - BSABurn Freeze Shock Effects - BFS Effects 3_3 - DawnguardDeadly Spell ImpactsEnhanced Blood TexturesEnhanced Lights and FX - Enhanced Lights and FXEnhanced Lights and FX - SMIM MeshesHD Textures DLC Fix - HD Texture DLC Fix v1_3bLightning during Thunder Storms - Climates of Tamriel - Patch - COT_Lightning_Patch_non_loose_filesLightning during Thunder Storms - MintyLightningModV19Lush Trees - Lush Trees 1_4aLush Trees - Lush Trees Flora Overhaul PatchProject Reality - Climates Of Tamriel - Final EditionReal Rain - RealRainCoT5_0Realistic Smoke and Embers - RSE High v1_4skyBirds - Airborne Perching Birds - skyBirds - Airborne Perching BirdsSkyrim Flora Overhaul - More varied Pine barkSkyrim Flora Overhaul - Skyrim Flora Overhaul v171 Hi-ResSkyrim HD - 2K Textures - Skyrim HD v1_5 FULL - DungeonsSkyrim HD - 2K Textures - Skyrim HD v1_5 FULL - LandscapeSkyrim HD - 2K Textures - Skyrim HD v1_5 FULL - MiscSkyrim HD - 2K Textures - Skyrim HD v1_5 FULL - TownsStatic Mesh Improvement ModUltimate HD Fire Spells - Ultimate HD Fire SpellsUltimate HD Torch - Ultimate HD Torch HiRes - 2048x2048_______________________________And this is my plugin load order: Skyrim.esmUpdate.esmHearthFires.esmClimatesOfTamriel.esmBrawl Bugs CE.espHighResTexturePack01.espHighResTexturePack02.espHighResTexturePackFix.espdD - Enhanced Blood Main.espDeadlySpellImpacts.espDeadlySpellImpacts - Two Fire.espBFSEffects.espSkyrim Flora Overhaul.espStaticMeshImprovementMod.espEnhancedLightsandFX.espskyBirds - Airborne Perching Birds.espBirdsofkskyrim.espBirdsHF.espClimatesOfTamriel-Dungeons-Hazardous.espClimatesOfTamriel-Interiors-Cold.espClimatesOfTamriel-VanillaNights-Lv-3.espMintyLightningMod.espMintoLightningMod_COT_Patch.esprealrainCoT.esp Activating a few of these mods at a time, I found that new games were actually staying stable throughout the entire Helgen sequence. It wasn't until I activated COT, Minty's Lightning, and Real Rain (in that order) that I started getting the CTD. However, if I deactivate these mods and their relevant esp's, I still get CTDs. It isn't until I deactivate all of these mods, and start a new game, am I able to get through Alduin's second fire shout without a crash. So, I don't know what to try next. Could the problem be in my plugin load order? Edited December 30, 2012 by Leppy0014
Gambit77
It's recommended to disable most mods until after the helgen tutorial. That whole scripted sequence is very buggy and doesn't play well with scripted mods. I myself had trouble with SkyBirds during the helgen sequence. CXZAR
Did u encounter any solution to this problem? I'm having the same exact problem even after a clean install, I still havent figured out wich one of the mods is causing the CTD... and like I said is at the exact same point the OP stated it. GruffDaddy
I disabled all the mods and still have the CTD.
MrPresidente
I'm having the same problem during the second Fire Shout, any solutions?
gigabitemon
I'm getting a ctd as well. tried reinstalling with no success. very weird, happened right after I started installing mods, but after a fresh install it hasn't gone away. Same as OP, Hadvar says get back, game crashes. Going to try deleting EVERYTHING about skyrim and retry.
bben46
The Helgen intro/tutorial sequence is very heavily scripted. Any mod that introduces new scripts can cause problems. You must do exactly what the tutorial requires - or it waits until you do. Any mod script that tries to allow something else will cause a problem. There is really nothing you can do with your mods until after the sequence terminates. I recommend just not installing any mods until after you exit the cave.
