exanimis
I decided to try this out Coloured local maps I did get the coloured local map http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/itSotE/minimap.jpg But I also go purple water Outside of Weye http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/itSotE/weye.jpg I immediately went back into my Oblivion file and changed the 0 back to a 1, the reverse of the instructions but I still have purple water. I checked my own mod and found purple water in my mod as well My Lake http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/itSotE/mylake.jpg and if that wasn't bad enough, my local map in my worldspace looks like this http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/itSotE/mylocal.jpg Do I need to replace my Oblivion Configuration Settings file? Do I need to reinstall Oblivion to do it or can I get a copy from someone online? Is that legal? To add insult to injury, my game crashes every time I get near water. Heeeelp! exanimis
Update: OBMM refuses to open now, I get a message telling me to check the information in my Oblivion data Obmm crashdump file. This is the message http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/itSotE/results.jpg Did this somehow effect my Microsoft service pack 2? exanimis
Update two: I finally got OBMM to open and I ran a conflict scan http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/itSotE/update2.jpg after checking it I found that all the conflicts were minor and that they were mostly with meshes and textures I had added to different versions of my mods. I checked my other mods and the problem remains. I really screwed up this time. I hope this can be fixed or I lose months of work designing and generating terrain for my world. exanimis
Thanks UK but I haven't joined that forum yet, I may later. I've been searching the older threads for problems similar to mine and all I can find is bben46's uninstall/reinstall procedure but he states "It does not remove your mods, save games or Oblivion.ini or the entries that the original installation of Oblivion placed in your Windows registry. It also does not remove helper programs such as OBSE, OBMM, Wrye Bash, The construction set or any other programs you have installed in the \Oblivion folder or the save game folder. I recommend that you go ahead and delete them, then re download and install the latest version of them again later. After you have verified that the game works." since my problem started with a tweak to the Oblivion.ini, I don't think his instructions will help. I know this can be fixed with the right information
exanimis
Problem Solved: As a solution I logged onto my laptop and copied my Oblivion. ini. I logged into one e-mail account and sent the ini copy to another e-mail account. Back on my desktop, I logged into the second account and replaced the Oblivion.ini with the e-mailed copy. And it only took me about 24 hours to figure it out, crap! another day behind in my mod.
bben46
I'm glad to hear that you got your problem fixed, and in an interesting and novel manner. However, to clear up a possible misunderstanding on my reinstall procedure. While the normal uninstall does not remove the Oblivion.ini. The re installation does overwrite it. My procedure does save the original in another directory if it is needed later. Using your procedure, copying an Oblivion.ini from one computer to another may work most of the time. However, You do need to know that the ini file may be set up differently on different computers. Some of the settings are set based on the video card in the system it is set up on. I have not looked very deeply into the differences, and I think they should be only in things like the video settings which should be easy to fix. exanimis
I did have to go into the options in game and tweak everything but it's working now. I know that I need a backup of my files but I'm not sure what files to copy. Will your instructions do the trick?
